The headline is incendiary. It is meant to be to show the double standard that has been inculcated in this country, and to show that black people are routinely treated fairly under the law. There is a myth that has been built and supported by the old media that only white people can use guns in self defense. The mythology erroneously states that if black people use guns in self defense, they will be jailed. In fact, black people are using guns in self defense more and more, and they are finding that the law applies to them the same as to other people in society. Reported on 29 June, 2015, from courierpress.com:
Paula, who is black, said he encountered the two men who are white at a party earlier in the evening, according to Wayne County Sheriff's report. He said the two had made racial remarks, and he had asked them to stop. The men later confronted Paula on Mount Vernon Road near the Fairfield airport. Why isn't this nationwide news on all the channels, especially as this is one of the fruits of the Illinois shall issue concealed carry law? A black man defends himself against a beating by two white men who made racist remarks. It sounds like a heck of a news story to me.
Statements to police indicate the two men got out of their car, approached Paula and demanded to fight. Paula told the men he didn't want to fight and that he had a concealed-carry licensed and was armed.
When the two men demanded Paula give up his weapon and engage in a fist fight, he pulled his .22 caliber gun and fired 10 rounds at the two, emptying the gun's clip, according to the report. Paula told police the two men were about a foot from him when he opened fire.
(snip)
Paula drove to the Wayne County Sheriff's Department to report the incident. While the investigation is open, Wayne County Sheriff's deputies say they don't expect any charges will be filed against Paula. They described the shooting as self-defense.
Good for the black guy. Exercised his rights.
I doubt I’d be treated as well as he was by the cops if the same thing happened to me, an older white guy.
Two scumbags perforated. I just love happy endings.
Bump.
Sounds like a good shoot to me.
Does anyone know who in Nevada introduced and passed the new internet tax on guns bought on internet gun stores.
They are now charging in state taxes on interstate commerce and also on FFL transfer fees.
I was thinking of buying a Walther PPS on the internet since LGS want $100 plus tax more than Bud’s on the internet.
Nevada is controlled by GOP both the Senate and Legislature and the Governor too.
Does anyone know who sponsored the bill and who voted to pass it. Also, is there a petition to repeal the law.
Doesn't matter whether it's street thugs or government officials: anybody who wants to disarm you means to do you harm. Perforating the bastards is the right response.
Reads like a justified shoot.
I’ll chip in for a bigger gun. In case there’s three of them next time.
Best part of the story.
A man named Paula? Is there more to the story?
Even dumber than bringing a knife to a gunfight: proposing a fist fight to an armed and outnumbered man.
Pls watch, no spin, just the facts!
Proper response: Because I feared for my life and 10 rounds were all the ammunition my clip held.
Black people need to understand that its a good vs evil thing; not this race vs that race thing for conservatives. If you’re black, have a CCL and two Aryan Brotherhood skinheads try to stop you and kill you, defend yourself and blow them away. Not going to hear a peep from us because it really is a good vs evil thing. We support your right to defend yourself from evil.
Bingo, V-man.
He was not outnumbered, he had 10, 22caliber, friends.
“Erick B. Paula, 26...”
Guessing it was supposed to be "Paul A.".
Either that or he/she was a tranny packing heat.
