Have you been following this flag controversy?
Walmart, Amazon, eBay and Sears all announced bans on the sale of Confederate flag merchandise, amid an intensifying national debate over the use of the controversial flag.
The confederate flag has been deemed to be a dog whistle and as such should be considered an offensive racial artifact. And since we won it must come down.
Even some of our more opportunistic astute presidential candidates have weighed in:
To quote a wise old black woman:
All this for a damned flag?
BTW: You can buy Hillarys latest anti-racist campaign buttons here.

i am hoping this will lead to a ban of fake Southern accents - now that would be good! hear me, Hill? hear me, BO? lol.
AMAZON TAKES DOWN CONFEDERATE FLAG, CONTINUES TO SELL COMMUNIST MERCHANDISE
“Communism is chic: Amazons senior vice president Jay Carney proudly features Soviet Union war propaganda in his lavish home, after all. Have you enlisted in the army? a poster featured by The Washingtonian Magazine photo splash asks.”
Fun bonus fact: Carney met his wife in Moscow in the early 1990s.
The new State Religion is Political Correctness.
No established Religion is protected and most are under assault by this State Religion
When seeking answers to societal ills, such as the racism that fueled the murders in S. Carolina, the State is quick to jump on a flag as the motivation, when it is actually the Godlessness of the culture.
When trying to determine right from wrong the State demands we not refer to Religious teachings, but rather the State mandated Political Correctness.
Thousands upon thousands of fine men died to fight the encroachment of central government power upon more localized states’ rights.
Liberals, Democrats, and Big Government Socialists all hate that, and will do anything to belittle the sacrifices of brave men.
Just another “I hate whitey” ploy under Obama.
They are sure happy in the knowledge that they are part of the ruling party. What they can’t realize is that all the chaos and destruction they are creating will affect them. And those cute kids. Like smoking in a fireworks factory.
There are people in this country who see the American flag as a symbol of hate, racism and tyranny. They will assault it next.
As Rush explained yesterday this *isn’t* just about a flag. It’s another example of Obola’s policy of never allowing a crisis to go to waste. This is about labeling Southerners as filthy, ignorant racist rednecks.
It’s a DISTRACTION while they try to get AMNESTY and the COMMUNISTS TRADE BILL passed.
“There are people in this country who see the American flag as a symbol of hate, racism and tyranny. They will assault it next”
Rush Limbaugh said that very thing just yesterday. The Confederate battle flag is just a stepping stone.
but who is stepping up to the plate to educate the ignorant masses about the D party? Who? Mark Levin hit on this last night, but, other than him, I haven’t heard anyone else of any prominence (maybe Ann Coulter) tell the truth on this subject.
WalMart, Amazon, etc., are free to sell whatever legal items they do or don’t want to sell. So long as the government doesn’t ban this variety of speech, then what they do is their business. My guess is that the Chinese will start making them and selling them on the internet. They don’t care — profit is profit.
My personal sense is that veterans of a conflict hold dear items of their wartime experience. That flag was important to Confederate vets for years, and then their kids, grandkids, and great grandkids after them. They all might have had some sense of the battlefield meaning placed on it by those original veterans. For example, many think Abe Lincoln honored all the dead in his Gettysburg address.
There aren’t many who have some family memories remaining of those who actually fought in the conflict, but to the extent that is their motivation for that rebel flag, then more power to them.
Other than that, I really don’t assign much credibility to those who appropriate military symbols for their personal vendettas or self-indulgences. I would consider that similar to ‘stolen valor’. I remember a craze for wearing German iron crosses when I was young. However ‘cool’ it might have been, it was disconnected from the military valor that it at one time represented when presented to those who’d fought Napoleon. And then it was appropriated by the WWI Kaiser and the WWII nutcase, so it changed from a ‘participation in conflict’ award into something representing affinity with conquest.
If someone wants to sell it, fine. If they want to wear it, fine. That’s just free speech. For me, they don’t have the background nor experiences to justify it.
Fake southern accepts is why I have never watched Forest Gump. I was afraid that The Help would have the same problem but they must have had a better voice coach. When Mr. M and I drove through the south last winter I could hear the differences between accepts in each state. I told Mr. M to let me do the talking since I spoke Mississippi, Georgian, Alabaman, Arkansas, etc. No southern accept in Florida.
Now come the thought police. Did I miss something, the confederate flag is now persona non grata. Have they banned the Swastika or or the hammer and sickle or people flying other country flags, ala Mexican, at US events? I thought not.
I wonder what those anti Confederate flag wackos would say if the kid would have been a muzzie ISIS wannabe. Hmmm...silence maybe.
