A Monday piece in IO9 contained some revelations about the upcoming sequel to 1996s Independence Day, which is entitled Independence Day: Resurgence. 20 years after the great alien invasion flattened many of Earths largest cities and killed untold millions of people, the world is still united in building up its defenses against a return engagement. These defenses apparently include a moon base.

One of the best show themes in TV. Right up there with "Peter Gunn".
Very much so.
99 had the model effects that UFO didn’t. Had to love the Eagle. One of these days I will get another full size toy Eagle like I had as a kid.
Kind of pricey though.
Met Landau at Dragoncon a few years back. The panel was really good and very informative. Spoke to him at his table for a few and shook his hand. Pretty strong dude for his age and struck me as a classy fellow.
"In the words of my generation, 'Up yours!'"
So, probably not. Though he was hilarious as Lucas.
True. The "Thunderbirds" effects of UFO are laughable, but the plots became superb as it progressed. I liked the Eagle, too. It looked like a logical progression from the Apollo program meets Kubrick's 2001.
From what I understand, the network execs didn't think the public was as interested in aliens coming to Earth as they were Earthlings going to the aliens (a la Star Trek) and so pulled the trigger.
I liked UFO better than Trek, and I liked, oh I don't know, reruns of Voyage to the Bottome of the Sea better than 1999.
ROFL
The democrats/socialists of the world would have stopped any build up for defense and instead would be undermining the planet to help the aliens conquer the earth.
I loved that series.
No, they never did.
Harvey Fierstein (who played Marty in ID4) is a screaming faggot in real life. Also a successful actor & playwright.
I remember they looked like two metal bowls or something spinning around and seemed easy to destroy. No doubt. The show was probably a low-budget affair so they wouldn’t waste time and money on good writers and effects.
Welcome to “Space: 1999” B-)
Not unless in addition to a moon base, they've figured out a way to reconstitute him from a plasma cloud, no.
Project Horizon is still way over the horizon.
of course there will
FYI, but not to start a new topic.
