A Monday piece in IO9 contained some revelations about the upcoming sequel to 1996s Independence Day, which is entitled Independence Day: Resurgence. 20 years after the great alien invasion flattened many of Earths largest cities and killed untold millions of people, the world is still united in building up its defenses against a return engagement. These defenses apparently include a moon base.

I’m guessing no Randy Quaid.
I would imagine a lot of alien technology is going to be reversed engineered. Will the anti-alien moon base be manned by hot women wearing purple wigs like they the moon base from the 1970s Anderson produced TV series “UFO”? :0
I am so cynical that I wonder if there will be obligatory lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgendered characters.
Can we send Jane Fonda there?
Pimping your Examiner blog again?
You know, someday that piece of crap will give you a virus and shut you down.
In ‘Space:1999’ we had a nuclear waste dump on the moon in 1999
In ‘U.F.O.’ we had a military base on the moon in 1980, complete with Lunar Interceptor spacecraft, carrying nuclear missiles
In ‘Lost In Space’ we were travelling to other star systems in 1997
All I want is my flying car
The moon base will no doubt be shaped like a rebel
battle flag and be filled with Moon Rednecks ready
to invade earth and turn it back to 1920 where they
will ally with the Tea Party army.
Liberals, what a hoot if they weren’t so deadly serious.
But....what about the flying cars?
There were some really good looking babes in that Show.
In U.F.O. we had a military base on the moon in 1980, complete with Lunar Interceptor spacecraft, carrying nuclear missiles
UFO was superior to 1999 in so many ways it's a shame they cancelled it. Cmdr. Straker looked like a candy ass, but was a stone cold killer - a testament to Ed Bishop's acting, vs Martin Landau, who reeked of flop sweat in every scene as commander of Moon Base Alpha.
I'm not a nerd. I just happen to know these things.
I imagine the flying car will come sooner than later.
However it will be pilot-less.
That’s what Ive wanted since my Dad took me to the 1964 Worlds Fair in New York. We went on GM’s “World Of Tomorrow’’ ride and I was under the distinct impression that by 1974 we’d have flying cars. Screwed again!
Well, you had the Vega by then, didn’t you?
Haha, that one weird guy in the first one was so gay it hurt.
What is the history of Project HORIZON, the Army’s proposal to establish a lunar outpost?
Details regarding Project HORIZON can be found in the following study prepared in 1959.

So will the producers being using the original sound/set studio where NASA filmed all of those fake Apollo lunar missions? I think that would make sense since they were so life like but Hollywood is always trying to one up the next one so most likely build a whole new set.
UFO had a lot going for it in terms of Ed Bishop and the soundtrack was good. I think I have all the CDs.
1st year of 99 was fairly good despite the problems. The second season is when it suffered.
1999 rebooted sensibly could work and I found this spinoff idea that appears to be rather good.
