Some conservatives are criticizing what they say is a media double standard after The Associated Press ran a photo of Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) with the picture of a gun in the background pointing directly at his head.
Imagine the outcry were he a Democrat, said an editorial at the conservative news website Breitbart. How many think pieces about violent imagery and responsible reporting would we see? How many more if he were a woman? Keep this in mind for the 2016 campaign. This is the playing field.

The Giffords one said “let’s put a bullseye on her district.” You really have to make a stretch that was anything intended violent. The one with Cruz is very blatant.
Still waiting for a major TV network to put a “Snipers Wanted” graphic over Obama in the same manner as was done to George W. Bush.
Yeah. They all got bent out of shape because of ads with “targets” in them. But the one with Cruz is just fine...because they say it is. They’re not liberals—they’re totalitarian thugs.
I’m waiting for someone to PhotoShop Cankles head into that pic and send it around...
Daily Kos even put a target on her district as well 3 days before the shooting, but when Daily Kos does it, its okay, but when Palin does it, its accessory to murder
The headline says we’re “angry” over this. Are we?
I’m not angry. I think it’s funny that they continue to demonstrate their intellectual bankruptcy and hypocrisy.
>> The headline says were angry over this. Are we?
I don’t speak for anyone but me, but I’m not angry. Ted will turn it to his advantage. He’s clever that way.
And I trust and expect that the left won’t be angered by the targets I hang on *my own* shooting range. :-)
Ok but we would have to put in elephant guns to make it believable.
This was not an accident. Note the framing of the photo. A well-framed photo would center on Cruz. It does not. Cruz occupies only half of the photo. The firearm pointing at his head occupies the other half. This is 100% fully-aware intentional.
And this is what they WILL do, the left, at some point. First, they come for the guns. Then, they come for your property. Then, they come for your life.
The left is of Satan.
I’m not “angered” by the photo - I’m sardonically annoyed by the double-standard.
When Barry Goldwater ran for President there was a picture of him in the newspaper, I think from the Republican Convention, that was taken to make it appear as if the rope behind him was a noose around his neck.
The rule of thirds argues otherwise.
Of course, that raises the question as to whether the main subject of the photo is Cruz, or the pistol.
Agreed. We’ll see how “angry” anyone is. Nothing will happen until we somehow choke off the funding of the dinosaur media. But no one (on our side anyway) is really angry enough to do anything.
Someone photoshop Obama in that photo and see if the left still calls it “no big deal”.
