“44mag”

Good Lord. I have a S&W model 69 and that thing is just ridiculous.
Oh its cool to shoot and shake my head at the bang coming out, but after a few shots its not even fun anymore. It just plain hurts. (Still cool though)
Its like shooting a 12ga with magnum shells. Thats not fun at all. That hurts.
I reload 44mag as light as possible and it makes target practice somewhat bearable.
But after target practice with light reloads, of course I load Buffalo Bore 340gr +P+ back in it case I need to disembowel someone in the hallway of my house.

That’s what I was talking about. You are dead on right. That is why I carried a Model 28. Did not hurt to shoot, but a fast and a decent size projectile. A good man stopper.
44Mag: Big and fast. A real man stopper. And we all thought Dirty Harry was just movie magic & hype.

This is why .357 is my favorite power round. More power than a .45 acp and very accurate. With a heavy revolver like a Ruger GP 100 or S&W 686 you can shoot it all day at the range.

I don’t doubt that and I personally have known more people who have died from a .22 round than from any other. Still there are the doubters. I wonder how many realize how close we came to losing President Reagan to a .22 round. Maybe some don’t realize the tremendous variety of ammunition in that caliber. It covers everything from something far less fearsome than a .177 pellet in an air gun to variants such as the CCI Stinger which I personally would fear more than I would a .38 special round. I know well what the Stinger will do and it is all about shot placement, get hit in a vital area and you will not survive one round. I have shot many a large snapping turtle with an ordinary .22LR in a rifle and they ALWAYS die, not quickly but they don’t survive it. You could shoot one with a load of buckshot at ten feet and he will still crawl or swim away but one little .22 round kills them every time, it just takes them a while to die.

Love my .357mag.
But when I target shoot with it I use 38sp. Ammo is cheaper and its easier on my gun and my wrist.

"its easier on my gun and my wrist."

While that's true with the 2" or even 3" barrel .357s, once you get to the heavier 4" or 6" barrels it doesn't bother my hand to shoot them in the slightest. As I said above, I have a Ruger GP 100 and a S&W 686 with a 4" and 6" barrel and it doesn't bother my wrist in the slightest - I could shoot either all day and it wouldn't stress the firearm at all either.

Great, sometimes we see the forest but not the trees.

You are correct, sir.

What I was meaning was 162% of, not 162% greater.
