#1 - It’s not a Police Report - it’s an Offense Report

#2 - Read my posts from last night’s thread about the experience my family had with FOUR different Los Angeles County Sheriff’s official reports and their inaccuracy on ONE FIRE AND DEATH!

#3 - I have read the Offense Report and am tired of being directed there. I have posted specifically what I’ve read there and all some of you want to do is direct me to blah blah page. How about some specifics?

#4 - There are differences in the interview answers and the report - BIG SURPRISE!

ACTRESSES? Give me a break - that is ridiculous! With their “cloistered” upbringing that some of you are having such fits about - they had time to take acting lessons. They are young girls speaking from the heart. I hope none of you ever need the same kind of understanding and solace.

No cover up. Parents are not mandatory reporters.

Law professor Michael Johnson, a former United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas, tells In Touch: “It is possible that investigators looking into this case could have cited the parents Jim Bob Duggar and Michelle Duggar with Arkansas Code 5-27-221 ‘Permitting Abuse of a Minor.’ Having once learned of the behavior, they recklessly allowed it to continue. This crime is a class D felony because the abuse consisted of sexual contact with a minor. The maximum penalty for permitting this type of abuse under Arkansas Code 5-4-401 is six years imprisonment and a $10,000 fine.”

Whether the information was released legally is debatable.

Even Megyn dropped that point last night. Arkansas has some of the most liberal FOIA laws in the country. The Arkansas city attorney looked at it and said release, there's nothing they can do except black out the names and genders of the victims.

Was it the right thing to do? Since when is the liberal media concerned with doing the right thing?

This resulted in the victims needing to go public with their side of the story. When they complained about being exposed, they received ridicule from the left AND even from some here. Some on this forum have even openly expressed hatred and anger toward the victims for forgiving their brother. Sickening..

If the want the story away, you clam up. No new information and the press moves on. This would have been old news by now if they hadn't done the interviews.

Of course then they would have to deal with sagging book sales and the loss of their TV show and the potential spinoff.

But the Duggars want to stay famous...

Whatever. You’re either incapable or unwilling to look at the facts.

My best friend in high school was at the time the oldest of 12. Her mother gave birth to five more. The doc then removed her uterus. Docs did things like that back then without asking. I’m betting Mrs. C didn’t have sex with Mr. C after that. Anyway, what a great family. But, it was a bit more than the two grownups could supervise. Mr. C had a full time job. Mrs. C at the time I knew the family, relied on her oldest daughters, my friend and her two sisters. But the birth order was girl, boy, boy, girl girl. So I’m pretty sure that the first five or six were not as well cared for in a lot of ways. When my friend was at school, there would have been at least four at home with only mom. A bit crazy. But there was such love. I would have lived over there except for the having to sleep in one bed with three other girls.

News programs love to bring in legal experts to make statements like this. Their is a reason no charges against the parents were pursued: it makes no sense whatsoever.

“If the want the story away, you clam up.”

What if you want lies to be corrected? Maybe the goal is not simply to make the story go away.

“But the Duggars want to stay famous.”

I’m surprised how many on this forum seem to have contempt for anyone who pursues fame, publicity or profit. If conservatives do not pursue these things, we may end up with our government, media, educational and charitable institutions, and major corporations being controlled by liberals. Oh, wait, that already happened.

There may have been statute of limitations issues. The DA might not want to face reelection after taking on Arkansas most famous family after the Clintons. There could have been all kinds of reasons other than it makes no sense.

What if you want lies to be corrected? Maybe the goal is not simply to make the story go away.

Your attorney would advise you against it if you were planning on pursuing legal action and were putting new versions of events on TV.

But of course if the facts are on your side, pound the facts, if the law is on your side, pound the law, if neither on your side pound the table. There was a lot of table pounding the past couple nights on Fox News. Maybe all they had left is going to a sympathetic outlet to vent their outrage.

I’m surprised how many on this forum seem to have contempt for anyone who pursues fame, publicity or profit.

If your going to use your fame to cast stones at liberals and their favorite issues, you better make sure you have a clean background, or at least spend some effort at cleaning it up because they will fight back and they will not fight fair. We've got decades and decades of evidence.

“they will fight back and they will not fight fair”

Very good point.

“There could have been all kinds of reasons other than it makes no sense.”

I am asserting it makes no sense. Sometimes people in power use legislation and law enforcement to punish their political rivals or other enemies. Sometimes they just take the path of least resistance. Some are conscientious and use the law to benefit peoples’ lives. In this case, a reasonable judge, officer, DA, etc. would look at the situation and say the parents are trying to be good parents and trying to charge them with a crime that is intended for parents who are truly reckless and endangering their children makes no sense.

I have worked with law enforcement and dealt with similar situations. These laws are intended to address some truly horrific parenting issues. I know first hand of an identical situation where the teenage boy was first abused by cousins and exposed to porn by the dad. The boy molested his sisters in the same way he had been molested. The father found out about some of it and did put a stop to it. But he actually told his son (who was a young teen at the time) that he couldn’t understand why he would not want an older female cousin to perform these sex acts.

Law enforcement sees this kind of stuff routinely and are usually very sympathetic to conscientious parents who at least try to fix the problem as best they know how. They do not use the law to make things worse. Even in the situation I know about first hand, law enforcement would not ordinarily punish the parents because in this case like most cases, the children would just suffer more. And that is not what the laws are meant to accomplish.

I asked if you had READ the police reports.

Some parties AT THIS TIME assert that juvenile records in Arkansas can be accessed through a FOIA request—namely the retired police chief who seems to have clandestinely released the information, along with perhaps others out to destroy the Duggars.

If such information release were legal, why would the retired police chief have done this clandestinely?? It appears that she and/or others did it for sheer malevolence.

If the FOIA assertion were to stand, youthful indiscretions of millions of youth who have moved on from adolesence would be up for grabs and for full-throated publication in every slime publication and medium. Blackmail would be a major new business.

The cop's personal life and LATER troubles have not been shown to have affected the filing nor content of the juvenile report in any manner.

You didn't reply if you had actually watched and listened to the M. Kelly interviews. Nor did you state exactly what “kinds of things in the TV interviews....don't match the facts.”

Do please tell us the facts.

Finally, we have a factual—factual—history on Obama. Period.

Doesn’t take long for the nastiness to come out in some people when you don’t agree with them. You believe a report; I believe the actual people.

The County had to release under FOIA too.

The Chief of Police that may or may not have had an axe to grind vs. the Duggars would have nothing to do with that.

There is nothing clandestine about FOIA. You present your request and the authorities comply. Arkansas has VERY liberal laws about them. Maybe Jimbob should have had an attorney make sure those juvenile records were erased when Josh turned 18. He didn’t.

As for the millions of youth being vulnerable to FOIA requests, I don’t think that millions of kids have anything resembling the fame of the Duggars so a tabloid wouldn’t go to the expense and effort to get them.

As for did I watch the interviews, yes I did.

I thought the daughters did much better than the parents, good enough for TLC to give their spinoff TV show a try .which I believe was most of the reason for them and only them to interview.

Wow. Perhaps you might want to reread some of your own posts to me and other people.

Whatever. I'm no longer taking the time and effort to reply to your posts.

Actually, although I continued to ride with the club for another thirty years, along about 1985 I cut my hair and started dressing like a businessman (My income doubled almost immediately). When I retired, I sailed away on my boat. Today, I don't even own a pair of jeans or a cotton t-shirt. Generally, it is boat shoes, khakis and an aloha shirt or Pendleton.

It is very easy to sit in judgement of someone else when you have never lived through their nightmare.

They covered it up. EASY call. I’d get a conviction, at a minimum, on contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Accessory after the fact is highly likely.

No. the release of the documents was legal. That is not even a debate.

And if these Duggars are Christians, we need to re-exsamin the faith.

Pedophiles should be executed shortly after being convicted. They’ll never change their compulsion to have sexual relations with children.

40 year old and a 5 year old?? I agree.

15 year old and an 11 year old?? No.

“I’d get a conviction, at a minimum, on contributing to the delinquency of a minor. “

We have become a nation full of laws which CAN be selectively applied at the whim of prosecutors, judges, and lawmakers.

Whether you can and whether you should go after someone for criminal conduct are two different matters.

You CAN also get a conviction against bakery and flower shop owners for refusing to make custom decorations for homosexual weddings.

A person who follows the Duggar story and thinks the parents should be criminally prosecuted, has a mind just as sick as Josh Duggar had when he was 14.

Conservatives tend to not look at government as the solution to problems. We have too many involved in politics and government who aspire to tyranny. The left is full of them. We don’t need them on the right.

I have met people like you who loudly boast in their self-righteous piety about how other people have done horrible things and should be punished. I went to church with some like this. They were snooty and proud and condemning. They were quick to mete out judgment on those they deemed unfit Christians. They took pride in their hard work ethic and how they had accumulated more wealth than most, and had nicer cars and kept their home just so. Come to find out their children were engaging in the things they condemned others for. The parents wanted to blame others for being a bad influence and couldn’t even see how their own actions and attitudes led to their children pretending to be sweet little angels. I have worked with police in recovering sexting pics involving one of their children. That one was doing drugs and having sex with grown men at parties when she was a young teenager. Their underage son also had sex with a girl in their home. And their little daughter contracted an STD, and the cause has not been identified. These are the same ones with your attitude of condemning and blaming and big displays of arrogant condescension.

Even in their case I would not go so far as to pursue criminal neglect charges because it would not help the kids. Criminal neglect is warranted when you have drug addicted parents keeping their kids out of school to do the work they are too lazy to do. It is for moms who KNOW their live in boyfriend is sexually abusing the kids but keeps him around for money or simply because she is too lonely to leave him. It is not for parents who care deeply, try their best using reasonable logic, who just happen to have religious views that are strange to you.

I don’t know you personally, but I do know where attitudes like yours lead. Maybe you should take a better look at your own family before you start trying to fix other people’s.

“And if these Duggars are Christians, we need to re-exsamin the faith.”

No, WE, do not. There is no WE in YOUR critical evaluation of other people’s faith. Allow me to suggest applying the Bible and examining your own beliefs:

1 Corinthians 11:28-32
But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body. For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep. For if we would judge ourselves, we would not be judged. But when we are judged, we are chastened by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world.

2 Corinthians 13:5
Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you are disqualified.

Galatians 6:1-4
Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted. Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. For if anyone thinks himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself. But let each one examine his own work, and then he will have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another.
