To Those Celebrating Josh Duggar's Fall: Congratulations. You Still Lose.

Many people have been hoping for this day for years. The day when the Duggars fell. Today they got their wish.

By “the Duggars” I mean any member of the Duggar extended family—the ones “as seen on TV” in their hit show “19 Kids and Counting.” And by “fell” I mean not just dipping below the sainted status conveyed by their television persona, but really falling in a public, humiliating and tragic way.

Josh Duggar publicly confessed that accusations of his being investigated for child abuse 12 years ago are true.

"Twelve years ago, as a young teenager, I acted inexcusably for which I am extremely sorry and deeply regret. I hurt others, including my family and close friends," Duggar told People Magazine.

I had the pleasure of meeting Josh Duggar not even two months ago. I found him to be humble, well-spoken, polite and quite real. He also loves college football, especially his Razorbacks.

Yes, I had “the pleasure.” He is a fine young man with a wonderful family, who now have to live with a public blot on his character for many years.

There will be distortions. Oh yes, the distortions and accusations have barely even begun. They’ll call him a serial molester. They’ll extend the accusations to his father Jim Bob, who reported the incident to the police himself, according to the New York Daily News. They’ll paint the whole family as Branch Davidians and Jim Bob as David Koresh.

Josh Duggar handled the news of his public humiliation like a man. He admitted it, put it in the past, and stepped out of the way in his public position as executive director of Family Research Council Action (the political action arm of the FRC). He will probably move back to Arkansas and live quietly there.

There’s one group of people who I suspect aren’t too sad: the Duggars themselves. They will rally around the eldest child and provide support, like a family is supposed to. You won’t hear any exposés or exclusive tell-alls from the Duggars.

They’ll remain joyful because they understand the grace of God in their lives. They know that this life is a temporary sojourn, and that the reward they seek is not in this world.

The world can hurl its worst at Josh Duggar. As Vince Gill sang, they can only threaten him with heaven.

Possibly this time, they’ll succeed, with a new petition. The hatred is already seeping through the Internet—the same Internet clogged with child pornography, bestiality, and horrors worse than the most jaded fetishist has dreamt. Stuff so bad that even imagining a young child seeing it is an act of mental abuse.

And the denizens of this same Internet hold Josh Duggar to a standard so far above their own filthy sewers, then celebrate when he admits he’s less than a perfect soul.

For those who celebrate at the banquet of Josh Duggar’s humiliation, I’ve got news for you.

Your counterfeit self-righteousness is as transparently feculent as your own deviant desires for others.

There’s no material difference between you and Josh Duggar. Except one thing. Josh Duggar believes in a holy, forgiving, loving and merciful God who has already forgiven him for his transgression.

Josh Duggar can stand up and say “I did this” without shame, because he’s given his own depravity to God, who has taken his shame and given him God’s righteousness.

I know this bothers you, because you want to see Duggar grovel and beg forgiveness from the world, so you can snatch it away while he writhes in his own humiliation for the rest of his life.

Duggar admitted what happened and now it’s your turn to deal with it. He’s already past it. His wife is past it. His family is past it.

And they know one thing that you may not, if you’re one of the many celebrants awaiting the Duggars implosion.

They know this: one day, “at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:10-11.)

One day I hope I will have the pleasure of meeting him again. Yes, the “pleasure.”

Duggar is not a perfect soul. Neither am I. Neither are you. What we have in common is the knowledge of the one who is a perfect soul, and like Josh Duggar, I hope one day you’ll meet Him too.

In answer I believe 4 were his sisters. The other was a relative or friend not living at the same address. That information can be gleaned from the police report.

This is not directed to you Boogieman but just everyone in general.

While some in the media and on the left are happy to take this family down I don’t believe any conservative here takes pleasure and glee in the fact that this has happened to the Duggars. I only feel sorry for his sisters however. He has damaged more than his family namely the pro-family group he worked for, and the Christians, conservative politicians who had their photos taken with him and home-schoolers who will be painted with the same brush and called hypocrites.

The show did need to come off the air. No one to blame for that but the Duggars themselves. I would be happy to never hear about them again. But to take some kind of pleasure in this? I don’t think so. Disgust and horror maybe. Sadness and anger.

The Lord works in mysterious ways and perhaps some good will come of this. Maybe his wife will be more watchful with two little girls in the house, the spouses of the newly married and future married Duggars would be wise to forego asking Uncle Josh to babysit and God forbid, if any of this is still occurring (we don’t know that for sure) more light is now focused on this family and it will stop and they will get real help. Maybe prevent any unknowing victims to put their trust in Josh and leave their children unattended with him. Would it be better for them or for Josh if no one ever knew?

It is a harsh reality for them all. The victims are further victimized by the publicity and other family members may feel shame. But the truth is that Josh is responsible for what has happened to his family and no one else.

Josh was supposedly raised in a Christian family and at the age of 14 I am sure that he was well aware that what he did was wrong. I was raised in a Catholic family, went to Catholic grade school and surely by that age, if not long before that, I would know that it was a sin and wrong.

Since when is 14 NOT a kid?

Since when does a 14-15 year old – adolescent -young man - even a 14 year old “child” not know that it is wrong to sexually molest his sisters, including his 4/5 year old sister and another girl who was a family baby sitter, not once mind you but (at least) the four to five times that he confessed to the first time and then again at least two times after getting caught/confessing, whatever….

March 2002: The 33-page police report reveals that Jim Bob Duggan tells police his son admits he fondled the breasts and genitals of several victims while they were sleeping in the family's home, and that similar incidents happened four to five times.

2003: In March of 2003, nine months after the first incidents, Jim Bob Duggar and his wife Michelle Duggar are made aware of two more incidents, according to the report. In one instance, he allegedly molested a victim while she was sitting in his lap, according to the report. Around the same time, the person (name redacted) put his hand beneath a victim's dress in the family's laundry room, Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar tell the police.

Where are you getting that one was digitally penetrated? I read the police report and all it mentions is fondling.

I don’t know the extent of what exactly he did but FWIW – the legal definition of fondling: Forcible fondling is the touching of the private body parts of another person for the purpose of sexual gratification, forcibly and/or against that person's will. It may also happen without force or against that person's will where the victim is incapable of giving consent because of his/her youth or because of his/her temporary or permanent mental incapacity.

Whether he digitally penetrated their vaginas or not or just “stroked them” is not the point – it is a distinction without much of a difference.

If you had a 12, 10, 8, and or a 4/5 year old daughter and found out that a 14/15 year old had snuck into their bed rooms while they were sleeping and “fondled” them - fondled their breasts and vaginal areas, and on at least two occasions put his hand up the dress of your 4/5 year old daughter for the express purpose of fondling her genitals – and for those of you in Rio Linda – that would mean her vaginal area, for his own sexual gratification, I guess you’d be OK as long as he didn’t (redacted) “digitally penetrate” her. All’s good. No harm done. Let by gones be by gones.

BTW – was as he a 14 year old child when he signed up for those Ashley Madison account(s)? Was he a child when he put in his Ashley Madison account(s) that he was looking for someone who is interested in “one-night stands,” “experimenting with sex toys,” "someone who can teach me,” “open to experimentation,” and more. The user’s predilections for potential partners, according to the data reviewed by Gawker, include “professional/well groomed,” “short height,” “high sex drive,” “natural breasts,” “girl next door,” “naughty girl,” and more. Was he a child when he confessed to having a porn “addiction”?
