My Firefox is running very very slow compared to Explorer running FreeRepublic. Any ideas?

I know, me no read-y Japanee either, but the button works, and it's from Mozilla's selection. I've got a bunch of them and have only found a couple stinkers I ditched quick for being crashy. The ability to customize browsers is great and they are a far cry from what they were 20 years back! Browser emulator!

I used Firefox for a long time, then switched over to Pale Moon. Both of those crashed maybe 4-5 times a day. Based on what FReepers had to say, I loaded Opera and it’s been great — I don’t think it’s crashed once since I loaded it.

Clear cached browser files and optimize your hard drive.

Then —

Installing a hosts file (a simple text file that acts as web blocking filter) will block any browser from loading pages from thousands of adware and malware sites. Besides security, by blocking that stuff, the filter speeds up your browser considerably. It works for Windows, OSX and Linux. I have used it for years.
