Feeling that bicycle maintenance is too male-centric, Bike Forth, a community bike shop in California, will open its doors every other Tuesday specifically to cater to the Women Trans Femme (WTF) communities. Every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday, everyone is welcome, but men are not allowed to shop on these Tuesdays.
Volunteers at the shop noticed that most of their customers were men, so they felt that they should be banned occasionally so that other communities would feel welcome and not intimidated.
Anne Hereford, a volunteer at Bike Forth who helped initiate Women Trans Femme Night, said, The idea is for people who might feel uncomfortable coming to the shop in general to have a safe space to come and learn about bikes. At the shop its a very supportive community, but some people still feel intimidated about coming to work on their bikes, specifically women and people who identify as women.
She continued, We want to empower them to work on their bikes, and if that means having a special night where they can come and not feel intimidated then thats what we want to offer.
...The store claims that they are not actually banning men, but simply uninviting them from being allowed inside. We dont exactly turn people away we say, Do you identify as part of this community? Hereford explained. If you dont feel youre a member of the Women Trans Femme community, this is not a space that youre invited to. So its more of a self-selection.

Yeah, that would be great but if you’ve been reading the news, Christians can now go to jail for refusing customers. Or face financial ruin at best.
Where is the outrage and the marches? Save this article and use it as a weapon when people bash Christians about this issue.
The Davis Bike Collective deserves to go out of business for insulting their (apparently) biggest and most lucrative segment of clientèle.
Just for fun, if I was a customer, I’d get some of my buddies together and picket outside the store with signs reading, “Why does this store hate men?”, “This store is sexist”, etc. Just to see the fiasco that would take place.
What this country needs is a mandatory course in insensitivity training. I could teach it.
WTF. Perfect. Everyone has issues but most people don't expect the world to bend and placate them so they can avoid dealing with their issues like an adult. That seems to be reserved for the psychological anomalies known as liberals.
What if the man identifies as a woman but still dresses the part of a man?
They should change the name on that night to...
Bike Froth.
Even better. Go in and ask tons of questions of one of the salespeople. This will keep them busy for as long as you keep asking questions. Then abruptly let them know why you won’t buy from them.
I learned that from Rules for Radicals. Hit them with their own tactics.
I self identify as a lesbian transsexual. Can I shop on Tuesdays?
Is “Women Trans Femme” for real? WTF? Really? Or is my leg being pulled? I laughed all over myself, but I have learned not to take that as evidence of falsehood.
We are SO ripe for Muslim takeover.
That picture needs a “WTF!” caption. LOL
I would like to leave my bike there for women to work on as long as they are paid less
He’s the dude who’s playin the dude who’s pretending to be somebody else.
Everybody knows you never go full retard. Bike Forth just went full retard.
Check it out. Dustin Hoffman, ‘Rain Man,’ look retarded, act retarded, not retarded. Counted toothpicks, cheated cards. Autistic, sho’. Not retarded. You know Tom Hanks, ‘Forrest Gump.’ Slow, yes. Retarded, maybe. Braces on his legs. But he charmed the pants off Nixon and won a ping-pong competition. That ain’t retarded. Peter Sellers, “Being There.” Infantile, yes. Retarded, no. You went full retard, man. Never go full retard. You don’t buy that? Ask Sean Penn, 2001, “I Am Sam.” Remember? Went full retard, went home empty handed...
I would never go to the WTF night. In fact if they could promise me I would never be in the same room with the lady boys I would happily go to the shop and look at bikes with real men.
Robert Downey was really the only thing good about that movie although I gotta give Tom Cruise credit too.
Three public swimming pools in Seattle have set aside “women only” hours once or twice a week, during which men are not allowed to swim or even be present. This arrangement was made at the request of Muslim women.
