According to a teacher at Cornell University, race is a determinant of "coolness."
Yesterday, Dexter Thomas, who is helping teach the course "Asian 1104 "FWS: let's talk about cool stuff, #swag"" at Cornell this semester, wrote an article in the Guardian titled, "Why white people aren’t as cool as black people."
According to Thomas, as opposed to whites, "Black people have an effortless cool about them, almost no matter what they do."
President Obama, Thomas continues, "seems to be the King Midas of political cool. Any topic he touches – whether it’s climate change, rap music, or health care – suddenly becomes hip."
"But this will never happen for Rand Paul, or most other Republicans," Thomas adds. Why? "This is because they’re white – and white people are not as cool as black people," Thomas writes unequivocally.
"Pity the conservatives: they will never win the cool war," he adds.
To be cool, according to Thomas, you must be part of an oppressed minority. "In the United States," he explains, "the most visible and easily understandable population of rejects is black people. This is why the bleeding edge of cool is always black."

That teacher sounds like a complete racist idiot. Whoever remains in his classes, will be pressured to parrot the same nonsense.
Can we say blacks aren’t as smart SS whites or Asians.
Coolness is overrated...except when you’re talking about the temperature.

I thank God regularly he gave me the insight to flee from personal attempts at "coolness" at an early age.
Ditto. Terrific movie.
Time for an outright war on minority racism - especially the “white Privilege” BS.
In another insurance commercial, a stupid white guy chainsaws a tree limb onto his cool looking black neighbor's car. Hmmm, so much for "White Privilege" eh?
I realize there was more to the movie than this one aspect. However, as the two sides came together, what concessions did the black students make?
Child stars can look quite different once they grow up.
The team came to care about each other as did the coaches and the town. It was a very uplifting movie based on a true story. We need to stop seeing people as a race and just see them as people.
The coolness of looking like a pencil eraser.
I will never be able to emulate it.
“Cool” is a facade...a fake front—a pretention—that hides the real you.
He’s actually saying that white people are more real, earnest, and genuine.

Glad I dropped out of school a while ago, and will be finishing my degree online soon.
P.S. this jackass regardless of my skin color does not represent me in anyway, I would have walked out of class if I heard this.
