On the first day we saw the North Charleston, South Carolina, shooting video of Walter Scott by Officer Michael Slager we were as shocked as everyone. However, as research now indicates there is much more to the story.
What we cover here in the latest update might just change the entire way the story continues

Uh, okay.
a pillow is an object designed to aid sleep. a pillow is in some circumstances also a deadly weapon because— hypothetically— you could use it against me to incapacitate or suffocate me.
somewhere, sometime, hypothetically, i am following you with a pillow to try to incapacitate you. hypothetically, i catch up to you, deploy the pillow for use, and we scuffle. hypothetically, you end up on top. hypothetically, you flee, without the pillow. hypothetically, you now have your back to me and are retreating from me. hypothetically, i draw a pistol and fire 8 rounds in your direction, striking you in the back.
hypothetically, i claim that you took a pillow from me and my life was threatened. next, hypothetically, a video surfaces indicating that you fled without my pillow and you had your back turned to me when i fired (from 15-30 feet away), striking you (fatally).
in your opinion: would i be (hypothetically) innocent or guilty of murdering you?
and now, back to reality: are you a cop? were you ever in LE?
if you are LE, i hope that you are not a cop in *my* neighborhood.
for your sake.
:-) :-)
Wrong. While not designed to be lethal, a number of people have died after being tasered.
I'm beginning to look on this case as a "teaching moment", much like the Zimmerman-Martin case.
As George Zimmerman learned in his interaction with young Purple Drank Fight Club thug Trayvon, the wider world is not interested in "civilian peasants" policing their neighborhoods.
In this interaction, hopefully police in the wider world will learn that you don't need to be a "lone superhero" in this age of ubiquitous information technology. Discretion is the better part of valor, in other words.
i am reasonably certain that several people have choked to death from eating ham sandwiches.
question for you: is a ham sandwich a lethal weapon?
ham sandwiches are not designed to be lethal. however, your esteemed reasoning implies that ham sandwiches should be classified as lethal weapons because people have died choking from ingesting ham sandwiches.
are you, or have you ever been, in LE?
I merely stated that a taser is legally and generally considered a dangerous and deadly weapon in the hands of someone wielding it, in response to your statement that a taser is not a deadly weapon.
Indeed, a taser need not even be deadly, but merely dangerous to warrant deadly force.
So you can bite pillows all day, yes I was in law enforcement and no, you have no idea what you're talking about, including cutesy pillow-biting scenarios from your dreams.
Don't be stupid. If I held you down and forced a ham sandwich into your throat, and you began choking and losing consciousness, has the ham sandwich not become a deadly weapon? This game can be played all day.
I'll tell you what, we'll get a ham sandwich and a taser. You have the choice of eating the ham sandwich or being tasered. Which do you choose?
Video shows taser flying at :17; do share with us where you see Slager “dodging” it.
Actually, that’s a good point. I did watch the rest of the video.
Okay thanks.
It’s been pointed out that perhaps Officer Slager was trying to keep the weapon secure from other people grabbing it off the ground and using it on him. That is a very good point.
Then why does he pick it up twice?
Once when retrieved....and once next to Scott
Scott was hit by the darts, slager more then likely got the wires wrapped around his wrist when Scott got up and fought for control of the taser.
I think they have to collect it because the Taser collects data on each discharge and if someone swipes it they lose evidence
omg, you were formerly in LE— well, i am surprised (not).
i am fine with your unfounded claims about me— go ahead and rant (on your dime). IMHO trying to educate LE people would generally much sense as trying to pour the contents of an ocean into a beach bucket. It is a task that I do not intent to spend any time on.
peace out.
thanks for conceding my point that a ham sandwich is a deadly weapon to LE (sheesh).
peace out.
That's what I saw when I looked at the new short video at the Treehouse. There appears to be a dart in Walter Scott's leg, and the wire wraps around Michael Slager's arm as he raises it to shoot.
We know the wire is wrapped around Slager's arm, because the cartridge doesn't move at all when Scott is running.
It can be. Anything can be, depending on the circumstances. I hope you are never assaulted with an extraordinary object; you will apparently lie there dumbfounded that a chainsaw could be used against you in such a way.
