The Governor of Indiana supports a bill that will give business owners the freedom to turn away LGBT customers. Do you support this bill?
61% No, I do not. What's next...denying someone service because you don't like their hairstyle?
32% Yes, I do support it wholeheartedly
7% What is LGBT?
I thought the law only provided leeway for business owners to refuse to provide services for gay weddings. What am I missing here?
I think its ‘provide services or spend $$$’ IN Indiana, not ‘to Indiana’.
But you are on to something there...that's a better argument then I hear on TV.
That is NOT what this law does.
The poll is about Amanda Knox. Did they change it all of a sudden? Was our side in the majority, thus the decision to move on to another question?
I think the bill doesn't mention gays or gay weddings, its general enough in verbiage that it would apply to those businesses who object to mixed race couples by claiming its religious grounds, which would be rejected by the court regardless.
I want to see a clan rally hire a black family to cater their gathering. Think they could conceincesly object, and refuse?
Indiana General Assembly :Senate Bill 568 : Religious freedom restoration act
Religious freedom restoration act. Provides that a state or local government action may not substantially burden a person's right to the exercise of religion unless it is demonstrated that applying the burden to the person's exercise of religion is: (1) essential to further a compelling governmental interest; and (2) the least restrictive means of furthering the compelling governmental interest. Provides that a person whose exercise of religion has been substantially burdened, or is likely to be substantially burdened, by a state or local government action may assert the burden as a claim or defense in a judicial proceeding, regardless of whether the state or a political subdivision of the state is a party to the judicial proceeding. Allows a person who asserts a burden as a claim or defense to obtain appropriate relief, including: (1) injunctive relief; (2) declaratory relief; (3) compensatory damages; and (4) recovery of court costs and reasonable attorney's fees.
Next Job for you Governor is to end the HIGH Crime rates in your home town of Indianapolis and Gary as a start.
It’s OK to kill people in Indianapolis but it’s not OK for some to keep CAKE from Queers?
“Well its got legs because Pence was asked 3X by George Stephanopolus on ABC Sunday if it does allows a flowerist to discriminate against gay couples, and he refused to answer,”
The Governor is a dull blade who should answer, “it does not, it discriminates against no one”.
He shouldn’t go on these propaganda programs if he doesn’t have his act together.
Now that's a good analogy , some of the others floating around are not very good.
Support gays (or any progressives really) boycotting states. encourage them to move out of any state that “discriminates” against them!
Ask them if the need any help loading the moving truck.:)
I support a bill forcing business owners to do whatever the customer sees fit.
First things first, I am more concerned about Iran having nukes.
Not against serving LGBT customers. But against catering to homosexuals ‘marriages’.
George Steph kept asking questions.
He found some writing of a bill supporter who said that the bill will allow a flowerist to refuse to serve a gay couple, similar to that WA case, and asked Pence if that was true.
“George Steph kept asking questions.”
Any politician who cannot outwit this fool doesn’t deserve to be in power, period!
Whats the difference if we cant marry to *person* of our choice and then get the state to force businesses with owners who object to it to sanctify the wedding by photo-shooting it?
If Christians can refuse then we might as well be in Iran.
It’s not the customer who is being rejected. It’s the option to be involved with sinful acts.
That is not what the law does.
