After a guest made a disparaging comment about country music, MSNBC host Ari Melber apologized on-air Wednesday afternoon and informed his audience that the network does not condone such remarks.
During a Now w/ Alex Wagner conversation about GOP presidential candidate Ted Cruzs statement that he became a country music fan directly after 9/11, guest Jamilah Lemieux opened up the conversation with this remark: Nothing says Lets go kill some Muslims like country music, fresh from Lynchburg, Virginia. Someone who obviously does not want to be a polarizing candidate, he wants to bring people together, I mean really? Thats absurd.
While co-panelists Joan Walsh and Michael Steele could be heard laughing at Lemieuxs remark, guest-host Melber responded: Well, I mean theres plenty of country music that doesnt have that message, right?
A few segments later, Melber appeared on-air with an apology: We have a programming note. A few minutes ago on this show, a guest made a comment about country music. That comment was not appropriate, and we want to be clear this network does not condone it.

I watched the country music awards a few years ago, and I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. It was like watching The Village people on Broadway with all the freakin lights and sparkles and fake gay looking cowboys, after 5 minutes I couldn’t take it anymore and shut it off. Like my brother says, Taylor Swift with all her incredibly corny banal songs constantly win all the country awards, so that says a lot how bad the rest of these idiots are.
“Nothing says ‘Let’s Kill Whitey!’ like hip-hop and R&B...”
Actually, if you listen to the lyrics, it does say that...
"I'm gonna get me a shotgun and kill all the whities I see....."
Today’s country music is often just pop music sung with a southern accent. Most of it stinks.
Exactly.
Hey Jamilah. I turned to country music not only after 9/11 but also during Operation Iraqi Freedom where my son was fighting. I got a Toby Keith CD (The Red, White and Blue song) at a support our troops rally about April 2003 and put it in my son’s heavier camo jacket he left at home. It stayed on the same chair in the same pocket until he walked thru the door and I gave it to him.
Screw this ignorance bitch. Whoever did her makeup, failed big time. And why is she wearing twin giant Brillo pads on her head?
He said that? Blake Shelton isn’t worthy enough to clean Merle Haggard’s boots.

The correct term for what they do is called “Bullying”....the very thing they champion against.
I guess this dumb b*tch doesn’t listen to rap music. Give me country music over vile, angry, violent rap music any day!
I can’t stand modern country. Old school and outlaw country I like.
Probably refering to Toby Keith’s records.
When Willie Nelson heard about it (he was on tour) he changed the name of his tour to “Old Farts and Jackasses”. Shelton sort of half-way apologized - to Nelson only.
Wrong-O. These lefties are going to attempt to kill conservatives but will wind up on a slab ventilated & leaking like human collanders.
Good for Willie!
