There have been several instances on social media in which those who hold to values not favored by the Left have found themselves and their groups warned, suspended and even banned for expressing themselves, while Left-leaning groups have gotten away with much worse.
Remember that conservatives, Republicans, libertarians and other advocates of universal values, freedom, equality under the law and individual responsibility are held to a different standard here on Facebook and other social media venues.
There was a notorious example in which Facebook required a rape survivor to use her real name because she testified against a transgender bathroom bill, while those who opposed her were still permitted to use their pseudonyms so they would be spared harassment -- which is the same reason she did.

The administrators might not mean to be biased, but will view offensive comments by those with whom they agree differently than those who do not share their perspectives. Hence, the phenomenon of it being OK to refer to conservative women or minorities in the most outrageous of racist and sexist terms, but for the sensitivity to be increased should the target be progressive or deemed sympathetic, for example, because they express hatred for the United States [which arouses automatic sympathy from the Left].
I haven't gotten any warnings from Facebook yet, and think part of the reason is if a person who has access to my publicly accessible page resorts to logical fallacies and/or demonstrates that they are obtuse in their comments, I un-friend and block them immediately.
People who resort to name-calling, distorting your views, try to disrupt a conversation, etc. contribute nothing to a dialog and tend to be fond of silencing those with whom they disagree. Agreement is not needed and even stubbornly holding to ones views is not a problem, but when someone demonstrates that they will resort to intellectually dishonest tactics, they are also showing that they pose a danger to your freedom of expression in social media venues that are becoming increasingly important -- particularly given that out-of-the-mainstream ideas have virtually no voice elsewhere.
The Left is chock full of True Believers who have no problem doing unto others what they would not tolerate having been done to them.
So be careful about whom you permit to comment upon your wall. It's nice to be open to differing points of view, but when someone crosses the line as described above, it's time to click that person out of your life before they disrupt any more discussions or worse.
And needless to say, make sure that you do not violate ToS by using racist, sexist or threatening language. There is no need to give the opponents of your views ammunition to use against you and your ideas.

I don’t have a Facebook page so I don’t worry about it. While it goes against the common beliefs of our time it is possible to be 24 and to not have a Facebook page.

Ugh, you and me both.
People much older than me at work; facebook this, facebook that.
I’m so glad I’m approaching the end of my time in the workforce...and on earth, too.
I don't do twitter either.
(On another note... I seem to recall having a registration party with fellow freepers years ago to reserve the names in the "to:" line above. If I'm pinging an actual person, my apologies in advance. I just wanted to see if they still worked. :-)
Why? Not going to change any minds at this point.
I suspect "net neutrality" will eliminate any possibility of this happening, at least in the Obama term.
One already exists, since long before fbook. It's called Free Republic! :)
there are alternatives to Facebook for conservatives.
why make people rich whose political goals include the end of America as a constitutional republic that trusts in and is under God ?
If you’re not using Twitter or Facebook, I don’t understand why you’re posting on this thread. See post #1
Social media is not just about posting selfies and talking about what you ate for breakfast. I personally use my page for blogging, because it gets me more access and discussion than would be available in one of the traditional blog sites.
There are political and cultural groups that use Facebook to host their pages and foster connections between the like-minded and to avail themselves of the opportunity of reaching those who might be divided.
Here you are on Free Republic thumping your chest about how using social media is beneath you?

Good grief!
I dont have a Facebook page so I dont worry about it.
I don’t do twitter either.
Hell, I rarely use the phone either. I prefer in-person, if you want something (which is usually the case) stop by.
The same goes for the the morons who post on EVERY TV thread that they don't watch TV.
I don't care for ice hockey so I simply stay off of the hockey threads. Seems so simple it is hard to believe some better than thou FReepers can't figure it out.
This isn’t just Facebook or social media...it’s everywhere. Social media is just the most visible example of how dissenting opinions are shut down. They have no problems contacting your work, your volunteer spots, etc...
I truly have fear that no matter what I say, if I cross one of the groups, I will lose my ability to A) Worship my god as I see fit and b0 provide for my family C) be charged with a crime which will require me to bankrupt myself with my defense.
It feels as if the forces of evil have won.
One solution to that is to use a pseudonym that appears to be a real name. [You’re certainly not going to get away with calling yourself “Explodo” on Facebook or Twitter — unless you’re a drag queen, of course. See the Examiner article linked above.]
If expressing yourself freely on venues utilized by a wide variety of people is important to you and you want that part of your life separate from your Official life, that is an option.
On Facebook, I am connected to and have conversations with conservatives, libertarians, homosexuals, pagans, hard-core leftists, Democrats, evangelicals, gamers, artists, technicians and people of all ages.
Not possible here on FR nor on DU.
I have found it invaluable to have access to multiple viewpoints and find ways of keeping dialogs civil and productive — when possible.
Twitter is far more free than facebook.
Guilty as charged, regarding threads on the personal lives of entertainers. I used to say "who cares" until it was pointed out to me that I am that moron!
;^)

Phone? Heck, I use smoke signals.
