"Obama and the Ineligibility Circus." Some of the cleverest trolls on the Internet devote their time to spreading confusion about the requirements for being president. You have to be a citizen. You have to be 35. And you have to have two parents who are themselves Americans. That last requirement is called the "natural born" requirement. Because of that requirement, Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz are not eligible to be president. My hope is that one of them drops out of the race and tells the country why.

"Obama wrong on immigration, education, health care reform"-- ObamaCare and ObamaEd (that is, Common Core) are almost parallel policies. Immigration is similar. You have a wannabe dictator writing laws as he goes. More power is being centralized in Washington DC or in the White House. Traditions of this country were exactly opposite. Citizens are supposed to control their destiny at the local level. Obama has other ideas.

The crux of the issue is “undivided Loyalty”. Obama never did and never will have that. He will never be one of US.

What convinced me that a “natural born citizen” is a special qualification that demands the president (and vice president by Amendment XII) be the offspring of two US citizens is the simple fact that the criterion “natural born citizen” (which appears only once in the Constitution) is applied only for the highest elected office. They required House and Senate members only to be “citizens.” The wording of the framers highlighted that distinction. The meaning of “natural born citizen” was commonly known.

Division of loyalities (inviting foreign influence) in the chief executive was a heightened concern of the founders. Man, were they right. A person like Obama was exactly the kind of mixed loyalty president they feared, and therefore they attempted to reduce that risk with the “natural born citizen” requirement.

I agree 100 percent with you and Vattel concerning the definition.

‘Natural Born’ and ‘Dual Citizen’ are two distinct and exclusive categories.

'Natural Born' means you are naturally a citizen of only one country.

Cruz, Rubio, Obama and Jindal are not eligible.

I too, wish at least one of them would put aside his ego.

This is now corrupting even the Tea Party.

There is no question this is a big mess. Some people actually think Cruz is setting up an exposé of Obama. It’s just as reasonable to think he’s running a bluff. He knows that the New York Times, etc. will never mention this subject. Never. Because that would end up exposing Obama.

Obama has broken so many laws and created all these precedents. I would think conservatives would want to get rid of these precedents. That’s more important to me than any particular candidate.

All in all, it’s really clear to me that the Founding Fathers did not want the president’s father, for example, to be a Russian merchant or a British stock trader. It’s just common sense. Such people would try to meddle in our affairs.
