On Fridays NewsHour on PBS, New York Times columnist David Brooks was critical of the notion of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressing a joint session of Congress due to the politicization of the state of Israel.
I think its a political disaster, Brooks said. Its a substantive disaster for the state of Israel. I think its political disaster for Bibi Netanyahu back home, because theyre most Israelis are really worried about the state of the relationship. Its different than the past times, in part because its as Mark said, its partisan now. Suddenly, Republicans are pro-Israel. And what are Democrats supposed to do?
Second, support for Israel, especially on the Democratic left, especially on college campuses, is more fragile than its ever been before, he continued. Third, the Iran situation is just this gigantically big issue, and existential for Israel, a serious issue for the United States. And to mess this up at a time when this issue is looming is cataclysmic, distracted the debate over the whats being settled between the U.S. and Iran into some sideshow. And I happen to think Netanyahus concerns about what the deal were apparently getting close to with the Iranians are legitimate, but he has sidetracked that debate into something very self-destructive.

David Brooks is an American conservative liberal political and cultural commentator who writes for The New York Times.
Calling this asshat a conservative is like calling a decked out Escalade and economy car.
Brooks is worried because it’s a political disaster for the Dems
Idiot...
The usual suspects are chirping in.
David Brooks is still drooling over the “perfect crease” in Obama’s pant leg.
Brooks is a disaster who speaks only for the commies at the New York Times.
It is political for you not wanting to die for Obama’s Legacy.
I’d really love to bi*chslap this ninny.
Reading the ‘Talking Points” lately received from Valerie Jarrett.
There were more Jews there than at an Obama fundraiser.
... they’re “chirping in” and are, at least for the moment, still able to control their growing panic.
A political disaster? Israel is interested in its own physical survival! Its leader is staunch and loyal to his people— something our ever politically motivated leaders just do not seem to understand these days ....
If only America would elect a leader for itself such as Netanyahu. Instead we seem to be on a suicidal highway to our own complete destruction!
Gawd. What a pile of krap. Hard to believe he really thinks this way.
His problem isn’t what Netanyahu says, but that he says anything in the first place. Bibi is showing signs of life, which might upset those nice Muslims, is what Brooks is saying.
Do what democrats always do: Oppose anything republicans support regardless of the situation.
He is addressing both republicans and democrats. I don’t seemwhat the problem is.
I thought he didn't speak to congress till tomorrow?
