Trigonometry Is Racist! KEVIN D. WILLIAMSON February 27, 2015
An African-American scholar says that emphasis on STEM education is bad for blacks. Earlier today on Sirius XM Urban View, an African-American talk station, the guest was Daryl Scott, president of the Association for the Study of African American Life and History.
The conversation turned to STEM science, technology, engineering, and math education, and the origins of the ongoing push to encourage institutions and students to focus on those subjects. Can you guess what happened?
In 1983, the guest explained, a commission empaneled by the secretary of education issued a report titled A Nation at Risk: The Imperative for Education Reform. In a memorable phrase, it warned of a rising tide of mediocrity in the nations public schools. That phrase, he said, was a euphemism. A euphemism for what? For us for African Americans. There is nothing that happens in these United States that will not be impugned as secret racism. Nothing.

Coshacao (or whatever the hyperbolic version was). That one didn’t get ingrained as deep.
Bet she’s a-cutie.
With racial preferences being what they are, it's hard to say.
High pot and noose?
Co-sign for a side?
Tan gents looking for a cute angle?
We know what these dog whistles really mean.

“White folks was in caves while we was building empires.... We taught philosophy and astrology and mathematics before Socrates and them Greek homos ever got around to it.” - Al Sharpton
Remember the story about the imaginary classes that athletes were taking at, I believe , U of North Carolina? Fake Black Studies courses. Give ‘em a little credit and let ‘em take fake calculus classes.
Ingenious!
his other sisters Cynology ..and Basinette think so..
“I am never forget the day I first meet the great Lobachevsky. In one word he told me secret of success in mathematics. Plagiarize!
“Plagiarize
Let no one else’s work evade your eyes
Remember why the good Lord made your eyes
So don’t shade your eyes
But plagiarize, plagiarize, plagiarize
Only be sure always to call it please ‘research’”
Well, when you’re as dumb as a bag of hammers, everything starts looking like a racist nail.
Most of those in school would be doing very well if htey could reach mediocrity.
As for “TRIG-onometry” being racist, I’ll keep my mouth shut.
Stupidity is not limited to race, religion or background. It is, however, prerequisite for being a college professor on Africa-American studies and Gender studies.
These self-proclaimed experts are their own group’s worst enemies. They deny the group the ability to learn the right knowledge to succeed in life instead of remaining a liberal/leftist “political and welfare plantation slave”, doing mindless work instead of being allowed to develop themselves to the best of their abilities.
Well, let’s put it this way ... planes won’t fly, bridges won’t hold vehicles crossing it and buildings won’t stay up ... if someone doesn’t know their stuff.
Maybe you can even up the job market for flipping burgers, but if you want your planes to keep flying ... that won’t work ... :-) ...
The soft bigotry of low expectations.
The “African Amercan History” expert is the real racist in this story.
Black students are perfectly capable of excelling in STEM courses, if excellence in those areas is expected of them by teachers and demanded of them by parents.
Yep. Lots of savage indigenous pipples sitting around doing recreational drugs amid ruins of greater civilizations. Coincidence?
Do they think trigonometry is an extended form of bigotry or something?
Just darned insane
Still trying to figure out how ‘sine squared plu cosine squared equals one’ is racist
guess my white privilege doesn’t help much here
They’re the reason for the dumbing down. I was around when integration started and have relatives who were teachers. They had to make it so everyone could pass. So, they had to lower the standards because they said blacks couldn’t compete after all those years of lousy education. I know a school that made sure everything was equal right down to the cheerleader squad. There had to be an equal number of whites and blacks. Football was a different story.
I have a relative who dedicated his life to trying to help blacks achieve a quality education. I asked him not long ago what the solution is and he said “Segregation.”
The solution would have been to integrate the first grade. In twelve years the schools would be totally integrated.
