DEFUNDING OBAMA'S AMNESTY: Litmus test for Republicans - true conservatives standing on principle?
The Midnight Ride ^ | 2/25/2015 | Andrew L. Jaffee

Republican leadership seems on the verge of caving in, breaking their November 4, 2014 election promises, and funding President Obama's blatantly unconstitutional executive directives to grant amnesty to approximately 5 million illegal immigrants. Did Republicans get the message voters sent in the November 4 election? Republicans took the Senate, strengthened their hold on the House, took a good number of state houses, and won an amazing number of governorships, but voters weren't solely endorsing the GOP -- not by a long-shot. Voters were more concentrated on repudiating President Obama's policies and those of his out-of-control "liberal" establishment. But, before dissecting the intentions of GOP leaders (and many in the rank and file), PLEASE ACT NOW TO STOP OBAMA'S UNCONSTITUTIONAL EXECUTIVE AMNESTY:

Talking points to use when contacting senators

I urge you to oppose President Obama's executive amnesty for illegal aliens because:

Why are Republicans so convinced that they must "compromise" on amnesty? From Breitbart:

Though establishment Republican leaders and the mainstream press–without any evidence–incessantly claim Republicans must cave on immigration enforcement to appeal to Hispanics, a majority of Hispanics actually want Congress to pass legislation making it tougher for businesses to illegally hire illegal immigrants. ...

Americans in general, by a 50-point margin, wanted tougher rules against hiring illegal immigrants, and that included a majority of Hispanics (56% to 37%). ...

Are a bunch of Republicans simply pandering to the business lobby, looking for cheap labor and/or looking to fill positions in sectors like tech in which there's a deficit of qualified workers (e.g., mobile app developers)? But who cares? Amnesty is not what American voters want as evidenced by many polls and the outcome of the November 4 election. The bottom line is that Republicans -- especially their "leadership" -- have broken promises they made in the run-up to the November 4 election. So is this just about getting re-elected? -- because it sure looks like citizens are more likely to vote for politicians who oppose amnesty. Again, from Breitbart:

Exclusive-Priebus Rallies Base: GOP Will Stop Obama's 'Un-American' Amnesty if We Win Senate

Reince Priebus, the chairman of the Republican National Committee (RNC), says it's "un-American" for President Barack Obama to consider implementing an executive amnesty for millions of illegal aliens across the country.

"It's unconstitutional, illegal, and we don’t support it," Priebus replied when a Tea Party activist asked him about the president's plans for an executive amnesty on a conference call hosted by TheTeaParty.net on Monday evening.

"I don't support it. It is wrong," Priebus said. "It is un-American for a president to try and do such a thing. I want to make it clear: There is no part of me, there is not a molecule in my body that agrees with the president on executive amnesty." ...

"Not a molecule," huh? So why did this happen yesterday?

... Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced at a press conference Tuesday he is willing to allow a vote on a so-called "clean" DHS bill that would fund the agency through the end of September prior to a vote planned for Friday on blocking President Barack Obama's executive orders on immigration. ...

"Clean" means funding Obama's amnesty. McConnell is not standing on principle, everything's political calculus for staying in office.

No matter. We only got to this sorry state of affairs because millions of Americans have been disengaged from the political process.

I guarantee you this: If senators get thousands of calls, emails, faxes, petitions, letters, tweets, etc., they'll start getting more responsive to voters. They know that people who take the time to contact them are extremely likely to vote, vote on principle, and to throw out unprincipled legislators as fast as they were voted in. Please act now.

The GOP leadership has signaled to anyone paying attention they have no intention of standing firm for the fight against O, since us voting fools have already given them the Senate majority. Next up "they" need the White House - I for one refuse to participate.

For me it is the end of the party.....

I had naively hoped that McConnell had seen the conservative light but I was so wrong. He is the worst liar and deceiver I have ever seen in the party. We have a secret cabal of leftest with roots in the old Rokerfeller wing of the party. We stupidly think they are conservatives but it is a massive lie. I had lunch with a business men l today. I asked how many would count themselves as Republicans today . Only two raised their hands. There were 16 of us and literal rage at the cave-in by McConnell/ Boehner and ratification of the illegal degree by obama on people who legally should be removed!! There are millions of pissed off folks now that used to be republicans. There will be ramifications.

I agree with you, I think the republican party is done. I for one see no reason to vote GOP any more. I have no guilt whatsoever anymore about changing my party registration to the constitution party.

I personally don't give a hoot about party affiliation and pick candidates based on their principles. But I did take action pragmatically to put pressure on my reps and senators to stop amnesty. You can engage in the process regardless of how you feel about the legislators you're contacting. It's just common sense. Doing nothing is giving amnesty a better chance to succeed, and then we'll really be in trouble, with millions of instant Democrats flooding the electorate.

Demand your congressman VOTE AGAINST THE RULE. If he won’t, then he has to go.
There is a vote on the rule for considering a bill before there is a vote on the bill.

This is the House version of a filibuster.

” Matt Fuller @MEPFuller
A fun thing to do: Ask a House Republican what’s going to happen on the DHS bill (”I don’t know”), then ask on background (”We’ll cave”).”

That's pragmatic politics. Cheers.

Civil Rights Commissioner Peter Kirsanow warned Congress on Wednesday that President Obama’s deportation amnesty program, which will allow illegal immigrants to get Social Security numbers and driver’s licenses, will make it much easier for them to register and vote in U.S. elections — despite being ineligible to do so.

******

Is Obama trying to blackmail and create so much panic in the American people and Republicans in Congress that Congress will have no choice but to fund the Homeland Security bill stalled in Congress?

(Obama is such a two-faced hypocrite. On the one hand, he tries to reassure us that ISIS is a jayvee team, and so, according to Obama and his thugs, they really pose no true threat to the United States homeland, while, on the other hand, Obama----in order to try to get his version of the Homeland Security bill passed that grants all types of freebies instantly to 4 to 10 million illegals----warns us of terrible things that terrorists will do to us if Congress doesn't give Homeland Security everything it wants, such as broad powers to hand illegals all kinds of goodies like work permits and access to benefits like Social Security. )

Obama's blackmail attempt goes something like this:

1. Obama says: If you don't fund Homeland Security for the next year by giving it all the money it says it needs to fight terrorism---everyone knows that Obama is referring to Islamic terrorists, but he won't use the word "Islamic". What an idiot---terrorists will run wild over the United States, attacking such sites as malls and other buildings to the point that Americans will live in constant fear and terror for their lives.

2. On the other hand, according to Obama's blackmail attempt, if you give Homeland Security all the money it says it needs to fight terrorism, and, at the same time, also give it money and unlimited power to give 4 to 10 million illegals instant access to such things as work permits, housing, and benefits like Social Security, the United States will be a much safer and greater nation forever and ever. What a bunch of horse manure.

3. Hogwash: I say Hogwash. I say that it will slowly destroy the United States as we know it if we give Homeland Security broad powers to quickly process 4 to 10 million illegal aliens so that the illegals have instant access to such things as jobs, housing and benefits like Social Security.

Giving all those illegals all that they demand will do more irreversible and lasting damage to our towns and cities than any terrorists' attacks will ever do.

4. To Republican Congressmen: I say that we take our chances with terrorists. That is, I say that we take our chances for the next year that terrorist attacks will not be as terrible as Obama and his thugs paint them out to be, if, according to Obama, we don't give Homeland Security all the money it needs to fight terrorism and to legalize 4 to 10 + million illegals and those so-called "Dreamers".

(I believe it is safe to say that most illegals don't care about Islamic terrorists. In fact, I doubt if many illegals have any idea what Islam and ISIS are about. They are probably puzzled why Americans are so scared of this ISIS, a group far, far away on another continent nobody cares about. They only care about themselves. And the rest of America be damned.)

5. The following is more threatening to the United States way of life than terrorist attacks: Giving 4 to 10 million illegals easy and instant access to jobs and benefits like Social Security will destroy more of the United States as we know it than any ISIS terrorists attacks ever will.

6. To the Republicans in Congress: Don't fall for Obama's blackmail attempt as he tries to persuade you to pass the Homeland Security bill the way he wants you to pass it.

7. Handing Homeland Security almost unlimited broad powers this year to give 4 to 10 million illegals instant access to jobs and to such social benefits as Social Security benefits without a fight would be a horrible mistake, because such a surrender will do more severe damage to what we know as the American way of life than any ISIS terrorist attack that may hit the United States in the next year.

8. Again, I hope that Congress does not surrender to Obama's blackmail attempt when it comes to this horrible Homeland Security bill that gives Homeland Security almost unlimited powers to legalize 4 to 10+ million illegal aliens.
