I agree, the sooner, the better.
This would be a proper punishment in the old America, but now....

I wonder at the wisdom of giving back pay to a soldier under investigation for desertion.

The Pentagon has confirmed that six soldiers died in military operations searching for Bergdahl after he left his unit without permission. Families of those soldiers should be filing wrongful death lawsuits, regardless of 0bama's attempts to forestall justice. In the civilian world, Bergdahl's actions constitute negligent homicide at the very least.

Since being released last year, Bergdahl has received two promotions and about $300,000 in back pay. He currently has a desk job at an Army base in Texas. I don't even know if there are pensions for REAL SOLDIERS that high.

He deserted. That's really all I need to know. Why is he hidden under a desk instead of held in solitary @ Leavenworth?!
If he is indeed found guilty will he be stripped of rank, benefits and back pay?

It was well understood when I was in the military that desertion would lead to you losing your life through imprisonment or execution. Punishment for breaking the rules must be administered without exception or exemption in order to maintain a strong, disciplined military.

Former Military (fill in the blank): US Should Execute Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl
Everybody who ever served could make this statement. It should also be said of the man who traded five Taliban commanders for him. Aiding the enemy is treason. Period.

Absolutely. Desertion during a time of war. The pansy will probably get 18 months and 17.5 month suspended sentence.

If the army can’t execute Maj. Hassan for killing 13 people in a terrorist attack at Ft. Hood, it is highly unlikely Bergdahl will be facing a firing squad or lethal injection. I expect Bergdahl’s case will drag out and be swept under the rug by the White House and he will get a presidential pardon when Obama leaves office.

US Should Execute Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl That's harsh. Bowe Bergdahl is just as patriotic and loyal to our country as Barack Hussein Obama, and Bowe is deserving of as much solicitude as our Dear Leader himself.

Bergdahl is a slgi9ht of hand here. The real issue is that Obama released 5 major terrorists that are active against the US and used Bergdahl as the excuse to do it.
