A former U.S. Army Ranger sniper and author of a best-selling book about his combat tour in Afghanistan said yesterday that Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl should be executed if found guilty of deserting his unit in 2009.
I think he should definitely be put to death, said Nicholas Irv Irving, the author (with Gray Brozek) of The Reaper: Autobiography of One of the Deadliest Special Ops Snipers, said on this writers radio show. Hes given a lot of information to the enemy and he should pay the price.
Since being released last year, Bergdahl has received two promotions and about $300,000 in back pay. He currently has a desk job at an Army base in Texas.
They called him an honorable soldier, Irving said. No, I dont agree with that.
Bergdahl spent five years with the Taliban before being released last year in exchange for the release of five prisoners from Guantanamo Bay. The Pentagon has confirmed that six soldiers died in military operations searching for Bergdahl after he left his unit without permission.

This would be a proper punishment in the old America, but now....
With bullets coated in pig sh**.
I wonder at the wisdom of giving back pay to a soldier under investigation for desertion.
Oh, forgot to add the obvious question: If this slime is indeed convicted by the Army, what are the odds that the Dorkbamathing will grant amnesty at the end of the most disgusting presidential term in multiverse history?
No choice. Until he’s convicted, he’s a soldier entitled to pay. Regardless of what we believe about his soldierly qualities.
I agree with Irv.
after a military tribunal with all the evidence presented.
Families of those soldiers should be filing wrongful death lawsuits, regardless of 0bama's attempts to forestall justice. In the civilian world, Bergdahl's actions constitute negligent homicide at the very least.
He can’t grant amnesty if the traitor has already been executed.
If Obama had a son he’d be like Bergdahl...
$300,000 in back pay?
What the heck? Is a a general?
I’ve never heard of a deserter getting back pay.
Interesting question.
Does the ritual of Presidential pardons extend to non-judicial proceedings? Bergdahl will be charged and tried within the military judicial system under the Uniform Code of Military Conduct, not a civil court. Very different rules than civil court.
It was the same with Major Nidal Hasan. No question the crime was committed, no dispute about the degree of guilt, yet somehow, the military authorities could not effectuate the proper sentence, because of “political correctness”.
PC is a curse which has damaged the territory once known as “the United States of America” almost to the point of obliteration.
The longer the conviction is delayed and the RIGHT sentence is not carried out, the less effectual the system seems to be.
agreed,, make an example of him and his pathetic self..

I don't even know if there are pensions for REAL SOLDIERS that high.
A firing squad is too honorable for him. He needs to hang. (Short rope and slowly)
If he is indeed found guilty will he be stripped of rank, benefits and back pay?
