It's not about being a good person because racism makes you feel bad.
At a recent Black Lives Matter rally, I saw a middle-aged woman come nervously to the microphone. She began to speak about her white privilege. While she chided herself for past wrongs and oversights, she said next to nothing about the events that called the rally forth: the police killings of innocent black women and men, and the failure of the justice system to hold the killers accountable.
Perhaps she didn't address these issues because she feared that in doing so, she would come across as a racist, say the wrong thing, or put something the wrong way. Perhaps the mostly black audience would view her as attempting to co-opt their protest.
It's a crucial first step that white people recognize white privilege, but that alone isn't enough. What's more, luxuriating in our own suffering doesn't engender social change. Here's a stale paradox: self-flagellating about white privilege is an expression of white privilege.
Yet no amount of flagellation, nor even critical awareness, can divest white people of our privilege. It is something we are given, every day and on a repeated basis, without asking for it. It is imposed, even if we don't want it. The officer gives us a warning, instead of a ticket. We beat out a better qualified person of color for the job, but we're kept ignorant of what happened. When we go clothes shopping, no one follows us through every store.
The way to end white privilege is to challenge the institutions that render its bestowal compulsory, such as the police, the legal system, the prison, and the law.
The Black Lives Matter movement is a black movement....

I was born white, so therefore I am guilty. I guess.
The left is completely insane.
I have never gotten out of a ticket because I am white and either have my 2 daughters who are young, cute and white. This whole white privilege thing is a bunch of crap.
I wish this white privilege thing was true maybe then I would be on easy street.
Where is the “BIG TRASH BAG NEEDED’ alert?
Cogito ergo....white?
If you are white, and you are upset about white PRIVLEGE, you should self-imoliate on a freeway overpass.
All white people should be made to wear placards and then be paraded around the ghetto while black people throw things at them and Democrat Party officials denounce them for their white privilege on loudspeakers.
Or better yet, burn down your own supermarket.
I’d like to say, the ‘professor’ writing this piece looks like a pole smoker... therefore all he has written is discredited anyway without even reading the lunatic call of people’s courts on white privilege.
Merrill, thou art a schmuck.

“Cogito ergo sum albus”, I believe. But this of course goes beyond mere thoughts.
I went to Catholic School.
The nuns told us all about not self-flagellating.
Gee what privilege? When did I ever get to burn pillage and loot, to beat people of a different color and get a pass on it because of what happened to someone fifty or 150 years ago. When did I get extra points in job qualifications just because of my color? Sorry I have no guilt and feel no guilt, not for slavery, not for the Native American, not for the Mexicans. I feel no guilt, well there was that one time with a Playboy...............
Do you think private businesses whose owners object to birth control on religious grounds should be required to provide health care plans that cover the cost of contraceptives for their employees?Currently the split between Yes and No for Huffington Puffington Post readers is 71%/44%, with 5% not sure.
This guy looks like a major BUFU. I'm sure his dad is quietly crying in a corner somewhere..

This sentence tells you all a discerning individual needs to know about the white privilege movement. A discerning observer will turn the sentence on its head and recognize that the idea of asserting white privilege is to do away with the institutions, "such as the police, the legal system, the prison, and the law."
This is pure Alinsky, pure Frankfurt School where the object is to attack the institutions which support a capitalist and Democratic system. This is the fundamental ambition of Barack Obama who has been attempting to transform America since he came of age. The white privilege campaign is but a sideshow, or better, a stepping stone toward the Armageddon.
As for this gay professor, a mere glimpse of this photograph reveals that he is nothing but a useful idiot, a pawn in the game of revolution who has no conception how he is being exploited by the ideology he embraces. His sphincter muscles contract with a depraved joy every time he thinks he is sticking the establishment in the eye but he has no idea of the misery he will bring upon the world when the game he is playing goes out of control.
Excellent observations
