The Constitution requires that for you to be eligible to be president, both of your parents must be naturally born citizens. You do not meet that qualification, if I am wrong please straiten me out. If you get the nomination I promise you the democrats will do what the republicans are too scared to do.
Dear Ted I think you are awesome but we all need to know the answer to this.
Why did you post that to me? I don’t disagree with you. I was just asking how Obama’s birth and his mother all figured into it....how it’s different or similar to Cruz.
“A question can not be a question and a premise at the same time, good try. Not really.”
How is:
“The Constitution requires that for you to be eligible to be president, both of your parents must be naturally born citizens.”
A question?
It would be pretty easy to insult your intelligence.
“All of your rebuttal was just your opinion.”
False. Just because I gave my opinion does not mean that is all I gave. Regardless of my opinion the final authority is what the term “Natural Born” meant when the constitution was written. As I stated. No law written since that falls short of a constitutional amendment has any relevant authority.
I agree that this needs to be addressed and on the surface he no more qualifies that I and others claimed of Obama.
Of course not, I have argued for years that it very well be how we unravel all he has done including 2 justices but your question has zero to do with my request.
Ostrich!
Ok I will admit that I must have confused Cruz with Walker on the immigration issue. My apologies.
What is the title to my post? a question?
Here is the info on Cruz and immigration that I saw the other day. It is actually about worker visas being increased by a ridiculous amount.
Sen. Cruz Presents Measure to Strengthen, Improve Legal Immigration
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3248919/posts
Cruz does not believe in 'unlimited' legal immigration. For one thing, that doesn't make sense. Legal immigration has had targets annually for decades. People still have to apply, go through the process, get approved. They don't just walk up, introduce themselves, and get in as a legal immigrant with proper paperwork.
Cruz does believe in legal immigration. But, for that matter, so do I. I think there should be less of it now than there was 20 years ago, and I think there might be more of it 20 years from now.
You cannot find a quote in which Cruz says anything similar to "I believe in unlimited legal immigration."
Because Maobama presented himself as a foreign exchange student in college!
See post 68.
I believe that it is possible, even probable that he did just that, I have yet to see anyone uncover any evidence of it. In my opinion that has less to do with the existence or non-existence of such evidence and more to do with the utter lack of interest on the part of investigative journalists to break through the iron wall placed around all of Obama's records.
If you will notice, the link that you give was from May of 2013. It was not even a recent article that was posted.
In May of 2013 Cruz had been in the Senate all of 5 months.
I disagree with increasing H1b visas, and I think that currently legal immigration should be cut to the bone, but I’d be in line with what Senator Jeff Sessions is saying. Once he got his feet on the ground, Cruz pretty much supported Sessions in about everything.
I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that he now supports Sessions instead of what he thought he knew as a very junior senator.
You have every right to your own understanding. You don't have a right to your own facts. Please identify what defines natural-born citizen the way you do.
Obviously not, if the posts on this thread are any indication.
For me it would be a citizen born in the US to two US parents. With the only exclusion being any US citizen who fought in the revolutionary war.
With all due respect your opinion isn't any more binding than mine is. The fact is that the Constitution mentions only two kinds of citizenship; natural-born or naturalized. If you're not one then you're the other. And Cruz wasn't naturalized.
Obama was not eligible because at the time, a single parent who was over the age of 23 and had spent the last 5 years living in the United States was able to convey citizenship...she was not old enough when Obama was born... hence he wasn’t eligible.
Ted Cruz isn’t reading your question and doesn’t care what you think about it. Have fun waiting around for an answer from him ... LOL ...
No, it doesn’t. It says that the President must be a Natural Born Citizen.
The Constitution fails to *define* exactly what a NBC is, though. Some say that both parents must be citizens and the person must be born on US soil. Others say that the person must just be a citizen. (If you remember, there were some saying that John McCain wasn’t qualified because he was born in Panama.)
There’s a lot of legal *opinion* floating around, but the answer is not found in the Constitution itself.
As the definition of a NBC has never been clear, I’m fine with using ‘US Citizen’.
The whole Birther issue is centered around the fact that, had Obama not been born on US soil, then he wouldn’t be a citizen *at* *all*. (His father was Kenyan and his mother was too young to convey citizenship to her son on foreign soil.)
