A day after President Barack Obama addressed a joint session of Congress with the State of the Union address, House Speaker John Boehner is inviting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to speak before the same group of lawmakers next month.
In a letter to Netanyahu dated Wednesday, Boehner invited the Israeli leader to address the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate on February 11. It would be the prime ministers third appearance before Congress.
Prime Minister Netanyahu is a great friend of our country, and this invitation carries with it our unwavering commitment to the security and well-being of his people, Boehner said in a statement.
The Speaker added that he is requesting that the Netanyahu speak about the threats posed by radical Islam and Iran.
In this time of challenge, I am asking the Prime Minister to address Congress on the grave threats radical Islam and Iran pose to our security and way of life, he said. Americans and Israelis have always stood together in shared cause and common ideals, and now we must rise to the moment again.
CNN reports Netanyahu has accepted the invitation.

If you had to pick ONE single world leader that Obama just absolutely hates with pure passion....Netanyahu is that guy. And imagine CNN asking President Obama about his impression of this? I’ll bet he’s out of town....in Peru or at some fund-raising event.
Netanyahu is a brave man to show up in Obama’s Islamist enclave.
Or playing golf in Hawaii......
I’m sure Drunkin Boner cleared it with Obama first.
Yes, and the democrats will boycott it.
+1
Drunkin Boner is a traitor, period.
Amnesty and Obamacare funded.
Actually, it sounds like the White House is p***ed about this.
‘Actually, it sounds like the White House is p***ed about this.’
That’s what’s on Drudge as well:
“Boehner said that he did not consult with the White House before extending the invitation to Netanyahu. A State Department spokesperson told The Washington Post’s Jason Ukman that U.S. officials learned about the invitation from the speaker’s office, not from Israel. And the White House is not happy. Press secretary Josh Earnest said Wednesday afternoon that Boehner’s invitation is a breach of normal diplomatic protocol, the Associated Press reported. Typically, a country’s leader would contact the White House before planning a visit to the United States, he said.”

And then of course there is the petulant child.......
Depending on what Netanyahu plans to say, he may not even get invited to the WH:
‘Earnest said that the White House hadnt heard directly from the Israelis at all and didnt know if the Prime Minster would be visiting the White House during his trip.
Well need to hear from them about what their plans are and what he plans to say in his remarks to Congress before we have a decision to make about any meeting, Earnest explained, pointing out that the White House would reserve judgement about the trip until they had conversations with Israeli officials.’
Something doesn’t add up. Either Boehner knows zilch about inviting a foreign head of state to speak before Congress, or he’s trying to gain cred with conservatives by inviting Netanyahu whom Obama hates like no other, or.....
CAIR will invade & trash Boehner’s office & he will disinvite Bibi while issuing profuse apologies to Muslims.
I’m not hopeful.
The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
‘or hes trying to gain cred with conservatives by inviting Netanyahu whom Obama hates like no other’
This gets my vote. I think the avalanche of phone calls, etc., calling for Boehner’s ouster rattled him. Since then a lot of Reps have heard from furious constituents. It appears to be finally sinking into Boehner’s pickled brain that this time it’s serious. He’s making an apparent effort. We’ll see where/how it goes from here.
Looking forward to actually listening to a speech from
that podium. Needless to say, didn’t waste my time on last
night’s blather.
Go Bibi!
” Actually, it sounds like the White House is p***ed about this. “
Don’t believe it.
