bryant made a football move after he caught the ball he didnt need to control it to the ground.
and im glad the packers won. no cowboy fan am i.
It did more than just shift in Dez’s hand, it popped out. If you watch the long run reverse angle shot you can see he’s flipping over and the ball is in the air, not touching him at all. That’s clearly a loss of control. If it had been a catch that’s a fumble.
No one will answer my questions about the other possession booth review, and why they should be different. I contend they should have been the same - both complete or both incomplete.
The "football move" rule is overridden by the "going to ground as part of the catch" rule.
I can’t tell which play you’re referencing with the other possession. But from what you’re saying it’s the difference between a “shift” and loss of contact.

Dez completely lost all contact with the ball for an instant. That’s the big reason it’s an incomplete pass, the ball didn’t just hit the ground, it didn’t just shift in his hand, it popped OUT. If the Packer in question only had the ball shift that’s not loss of contact, though often shift is considered loss of control and therefore incomplete, it’s not always. Loss of contact is always considered loss of control, Dez loss contact, no catch.
As well you should. But many here who don't like the rule, would ignore the judge's order just as they are ignoring the rule.
The rule is clear and it does apply. The man dropped the ball.
Didn’t think it was a conspiracy. Good luck to your Packers.
As I saw it...Bryant’s left foot comes down on the five yard line...Bryant carried the ball 4.5 yards to the goal line. That should have been his, ‘football’, move...It should have been ruled a catch...If not a catch, a screen play from the end zone where the catch is made...the receiver then runs the length of the field, falling down just before the goal line and the ball comes loose as it hits the ground...under the logic used to rule Dez’s catch an incomplete pass, one would have to rule that the screen play pass was an incomplete pass as well...
The rule doesn’t say if he goes 4.5 yds it is a catch. It states quite clearly that a receiver needs to maintain control AFTER hitting the ground. And he didn’t. It really is that simple.
You missed my point...Bryant did not, ‘just’, fall down...He carried the ball from the 5 to the half yard line...Unless you are going to acknowledge that a player can, ‘fall down’, in 4.5 yards, then it has to be acknowledged that he actually, ‘carried’, the ball those 4.5 yards...the origin of this rule was the sidelines and back of endzones plays where the player caught the ball and then immediately went out of bounds. It was not considered a catch unless the receiver maintained control the entire time. In this case he, ‘carried’, the ball 4.5 yards. There are guys in the football hall of fame who averaged 4.5 yards per carry. They over officiated the play...It really is that simple...
The rule is clear. And, frankly, I don't understand why so many fail to grasp it.
WHAT IS A CATCH?
Observers too often are fooled by a receiver having two feet down or what seems like possession for an eternity.
Apparently 4.5 yards seems like an eternity. Not to me, but to some.
If the receiver falls after the catch, he must hold on to the ball after hitting the ground or it is an incompletion. The ground cant cause a fumble unless the runner is not down by contact, but the ground can definitely cause an incompletion, Pereira said. If the ground jars the ball loose, its not a catch.

You can have your own opinion, but when it comes to your argument against the former NFL Vice President of officiating, I'll take his word every time.
Oh please, the guy got the job because he looked good in a suit...
lol! Wow, how do I dispute that?
Seriously though, you may not like the rule but it has been a rule long before yesterday's play. In fact, the quote I provided you was from September 7, 2011. You can dislike it but you can't change the fact that the man did not make the catch. Have a nice night.
Last year that would have been a completion, but under the new rules the call was correct .
The new rule means that if he’d held onto the ball when he and it hit the ground, it would have been a catch.
Breaking the plane doesn’t make it a catch. Breaking the plane would make it a touchdown If it were already a catch, which it wasn’t.
Was there anybody at all except the Packers coaches that didn’t know the fake FG was coming? I was yelling at my TV as soon as they got stopped on 3rd, :watch the fake, look for the fake, defend the fake...
