Because obviously being a lying, cheating, family abandon-er trumps anything I did to our marriage in the past decade. Right?
Wrong.
I deflected any and all culpability in the failure of my marriage for months, holding on to the picture I painted of myself as the gentle, selfless and long-suffering wife. It wasn't until I found a therapist who called me out on my bullsh*t that I was forced to take a long, hard look at my shortcomings.
It wasn't pretty.
Here's what I now know actually screwed up my marriage. May it serve as a warning to you. Before it's too late.

One rule I have always stuck to is never speaking ill of my husband to ANYone. No matter how mad I am. He deserves my respect and loyalty and to be publically run down is the worst thing I can imagine. Thanks to God’s grace we are about to celebrate 29 years together.
“Actually the movie that freaked us out the most was Blood Simple. Did you ever see that?”
Excellent movie. The first one from the Coen Bothers.
The darkest of dark humor. “Fargo” is another though not as dark.
I call them “Murphy’s Law” epics.
Mine apologized to me.
HuffPo is just about the only media outlet to come down hard on Obama droning four Americans....https://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&aq=&oq=droning+american+citizens%2fhuffington+post&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1T4GGHP_enUS514US514&q=droning+american+citizens%2fhuffington+post&gs_l=hp....0.0.0.154199...........0.ei9UN_eIDfY
See it. It’s the first Coen Brothers movie from the early 80’s.
Frances McDormand is very cute. Her first film role.
True. But if you are decent and value your marriage, you don't ever stop trying.
There is a reason why 70% of all heterosexual men and 80% of all heterosexual women remain faithful despite the difficulties.
As for that other 30% and 20%? They are the main reason that half of all marriages end in divorce; because they keep doing the same thing and expecting different results.
Your husband is a lucky man and should take special care of you.
No I am not married and while I do find my post mostly funny, I am not the author. To me, marriage is simple. You have to respect your spouse and both parties need to give and earn that respect. You can’t love someone you can’t respect. To me, it’s just that simple.

That’s a very sweet thing to say. Thank you.
He really does take very good care of me. I’m a blessed woman myself, and I try hard to treat him right.
bttt
Wow is right.
I have not read an article like this before, even though I have seen it in operation within dysfunctional families all my adult life. Good for her! She was rotten to the core.
Men who avoid conflict and don’t set boundaries suffer this abusive lifestyle. Same with women who live in an abusive relationship. But I think it is worse for men these days - in American culture, anyway. This is the Nazi in feminazism.
I am beautiful. Irish, and long haired.
Beautiful post. Even Christian homes run into problems. Sometimes it is the men.
Sometimes it is the women.
Yes, those.
Respect the differences between male and female. Don’t try to turn your husband into a pseudo-girlfriend.
Don’t let yourself go physically. And men, this goes for YOU, too.
But these?
“We dont remember dates. Mark birthdays and anniversaries on a calendar. Remind us frequently beforehand.”
Yes, really. Dates just don’t stick. Just like you’re not going to change your oil.
“Check your oil! Please.”
I could/should be dead 4 times over already. Take the hint, be ready to do any of “his” tasks at any time.
You make a very good point. Thanks.
Or: hot women are crazy because they CAN be. Men will not put with ugly crazy women.
Yes indeed.
Your observation reminds me of that wonderful line in the opening sentences of Man of La Mancha:
"He lays down the melancholy burden of sanity and conceives the strangest project ever imagined...."
Sanity is a burden for all of us, and beautiful women do have the option of laying down that burden. At least for a while.
I dunno. On the average, sure, go for it. But I’ve know n a few that were nuttier than fruitcakes.
True words, my FRiend!
