Even seniors in their 60s should consider giving up stepladders, gutter cleaning, tree trimming....
***
Ha! Tell that to my husband, who is in his 70s. He insists on going up on the roof to clean the gutters 3-4 times a year. (We have a lot of trees.) I pray fervently every time and ask him to please pay someone to do the job, but he is too stubborn.
I am praying now for you and your family, and especially your uncle. In Jesus Name, Amen
“Uncle Bill” shall not die but live, and declare the works of the Lord, IN JESUS’ MIGHTY NAME, Amen. (Ps 118:7)
Take him to a nursing home and ask a few folks how they got there. When he sees a few feeding tubes, catheters and wheelchairs, he may get the message.
It is the healthy, active septuagenarians who end up with the worst falls. Recently an acquaintance well into his 70’s, and a weekly tennis player, fell off a 6 foot stepladder onto the driveway and died before the EMT’s were on the scene. He was lucky not to have ended up paralyzed and comatose.
Eliminating the risk of falls is practically the only thing a person can do to avoid a miserable end.
Prayers up, FRiend. for your uncle and all who love him.
Dear Lord, hear our humble prayers.

Prayers for your Uncle, OlLine Rebel. Prayers for his wife (who must be beyond scared) and for your family. I will pray for you as well... you are taking care of your Mom’s mental state and trying to be the family person who calls and informs everyone. I’ve been in those shoes.. it is mentally taxing to say the least. Hugs, Mom
Prayers for your Dad and your family, proud American in Canada. It is always a judgement call when we don’t live in the same town, isn’t it? Hugs, Mom
Thank you all for your generous response in so short a time!
UPDATE: My parents were asked for permission to x-ray Uncle Billy, so he likely has pneumonia as well.
I also FINALLY got hold of one of his children, who JUST came back from Europe and just happened to see me try to call her this morning. Had a nice long talk with her but she also called the hospital and is making arrangements to be the “Point of Contact” because of all the nonsense regarding (allegedly) privacy.
The bad thing on top of it all is the hospital was asking about funeral arrangements.
I cannot believe all this. I know he is an old man, but he was so sharp, spry and healthy (except got adult diabetes). The man is literally a genius, albeit not too much common sense. ;-)
I said there was much more to this story, so here goes some of it:
Also, we are very worried about his girlfriend (he was divorced 30 years ago). She is starting to “lose it”, and we do not know her condition right now either. Uncle Billy was really caring for her, and she was falling so much recently she has been in the hospital alot recently. I think today we will physically go to her house (parents actually know where it is) to check on her since she has not answered phone calls either.
My uncle recently moved and they do not know where, so we cannot go and get his things or ask neighbors what happened.
There is more to this story.
UPDATE at post 90, but I have a couple things to add.
My uncle is an atheist. He was a devout Catholic until about the time he divorced his wife 30+ years ago. Like he totally disavowed it.
He is a good man overall (even if he can’t help being a Dem too), but we need to pray for his soul and conversion as well. I prayed last night that at least he might see and recognize God before He might take him away, even if we do not know.
So keep that in mind as well. Thank you.
Prayers for Bill’s recovery. Medicine has transpired so much, I pray that the brain trauma may be dealt with in a most positive way.
Great testimony for the power of life from God. Thank you.
**The bad thing on top of it all is the hospital was asking about funeral arrangements.**
Tell his kids not to go there.
**He was a devout Catholic **
If he was baptized a Catholic, he still is a Catholic. Baptisms and the marks they leave on a person’s soul do not go away.
Call a priest, please.
