White Lone Star College Student Doesn't Want to Learn About White Privilege
Houston Press ^ | Dec. 4 2014 | Michael Barajas

The concept of white privilege remains controversial in the same way people still argue about climate change. A small, increasingly-fringe faction might argue that it doesn't exist at all. Another broad, more conservative group might concede that it does, technically, exist, but still disagree about what it means, whether it's important and what, if anything, we can do about it.

Still, many others would argue that acknowledging and working to understand it is an important step toward fixing the problem -- in the case of white privilege, the problem being compounded, inter-generational inequality that, although sometimes subtle, is still present in the everyday lives of people of color.

Even if we concede that white privilege -- the idea that being born white comes with certain inherent advantages -- is "controversial," does that mean the topic shouldn't be broached in a college course?

According to one white Lone Star College-Tomball student, the concept is just too offensive -- offensive enough to file a complaint against his professor, according to Channel 2.

The primary colors and primary pigments are also opposite [or complementary, if you prefer.]

The best explanation I could ever come up with to explain it to students was that a color seen from a pigment is actually what it "rejects." It absorbs everything else. Something that's black absorbs all colors; That it means it absorbs "all the white." There is nothing to reflect, so it appears black. A red dress actually isn't red -- it's everything but red.

You forgot the most important white privilege:

A white person is more likely than not to have a father. The odds are better than three to one that a black child has a sperm donor.

I wonder if The Congressional White Caucus, The NAAWP (The National Association of White People) and the United Whitey College Fund are aware of these this injustice?

Compare the black cultures across the planet to all others for production
and social growth. Reality is a nose punch on a cold morning .

I’ve seen it said here that “White Privilege” is what the jealous call “White Competence.”

We should respond with that at every opportunity.

"...There is no such thing as white privilege."

White privilege can more accurately be described as the long-term planning, intellect, and responsibility that are the norm among white people, coupled with their law-abidingness and desire to create and leave something for their descendants.

So yeah, it exists and no, it's not what the leftists think it is.

That’s not “privilege.” Privilege is, by definition, something GIVEN. If you earn it, it’s less a privilege than it is your due.

But to your point, if our melanin-intensive brothers would demonstrate the same behaviors, it is likely they would realize the same “privileges.”
