Oh, those dastardly illegals. They come into our country, they live off our social safety net, they take our jobs, and they cause all kinds of grief.
That's a fair description of many conversations in recent months regarding illegal immigrants. The message is clear: “It is unethical to take and take when you haven't earned the right.”
That gets us to the Freep-a-thon. Statistics found easily on the internet prove that only 5% of Freepers support the other 95%. Count the number of unique hits Free Republic receives. Count the number of actual donors...and voila...you will discover that only 5% are supporting Free Republic.
You'd think 95% of Freepers would be defending the right of illegals to take and take and take and take — and never give.
After all, they could be charged with the same thing.
Make no mistake, it is understood that there are those just recovering from tragedy, unemployment, a family crisis, the loss of income, and other problems that DO crop up in life from time to time. But NOT 95% of Freepers. It would be hard to argue such a thing.
It would be easy, on the other hand, to argue that Free Republic offers a real voice to the average conservative. It has the best cyber-conversation software anyplace. It is a conservative forum that does not apologize for being conservative. We aren't beset with ANY ads, memory devouring pop-ups or auto-runs because we're self funded. We aren't continually harassed by liberal trolls on someone’s payroll to disrupt conservative conversations. We are able to talk about God, family, wholesome morality, natural marriage, natural sexuality, and truthful politicians without being assaulted by mindless, liberal moderators taking away our ability to even be present.
You have a voice at Free Republic.
My only question: “Do you have a twinge of guilt over being compared to an illegal?”
If so, then donate today to the Freep-a-thon. Put us over the top this Thanksgiving week! Donate what you can: 1, 5, 10, 25, 50, 100, 500. Just about everybody can afford something.

We could bounce posts back and forth to each other with no more than a minute separating them...maybe even faster.
Less. I’ve never been on a site that was anything near as user-friendly.
And they’re a constant reminder of restricted freedom.
Started a cup of coffee, took trash to end of driveway, filled a cup, walked into the computer...approximately 6 minutes after your post responded.
I got the baby out of bed and found her a pair of socks, while a weird son was watching a math video.
In my time here, I’ve not run across any rich. They might be here...I just don’t know. There’s an everyday, middle class conservative feel to FR. I’ll bet some of those rich are still the middle class conservatives they started out as. I know there are some poor, because I’ve talked to them. Out of work...low on cash...and never willing to quit.
Clever. Hope it brings a few into the fold.
The math teacher in my house would dote on your son. :>)
My daughter, who lives in your state, texted earlier this week and said: “We put salt on margaritas. You put it on driveways.”
Smart aleck kids!
I am saying this outright, and if some little kumbaya pajama type doesn’t like it, I’ll be glad to inform of their mistake, in spades.
I am a Nativist. That means America for AMERICANS, first, and everybody else gets table scraps. Period.
Good one! ( I are a monthly donor)
Bewdy post, mate. I am not rich, but I send in what I can when I can and am proud to be one of those who recognize what a treasure the FR site is and do what they can to help it along.
It would be nice if some Famous Conservative Icon(s) helped out as well, but in the end it is up to the FReepers themselves to provide for their own continuation. If you are not willing to contribute even a small bit to maintain your freedoms, then do not expect them to be freely available.
Two words: “Ghostery” and “Adblock Plus”.
OK... three words then. Make that two names. Or two titles -I’ll leave it to the Grammar teachers to decide.
The article says that those who use Free Republic and don’t donate are no different than illegals who take what isn’t rightfully theirs.
See, cleverness just runs in your family.
Excuse me but I am not a Nativist American. I am a US citizen by virtue of being born in the USA, Iowa to be exact,. There is even a question there as my parents were from Russia but not naturalized. My only brother was killed on Okinawa and I served on Leyte in WWII. To go beyond those facts I do not like that these days people in the US are all out for Americans of any stripe or origin. To/for many an American is an American no matter where in the Americas people come from. The Mexican and Central Americans are drumming this for all they can get. NO, I am a UNITED STATES person as set forth in the Declaration OF INDEPENDENCE And The USA CONSTITUTION. Our citizens need to clear up this quagmire of words. Words do have meanings.
you think reading a few articles and not coughing up $$$ every 3 months is the same as illegals raping our economy?
Really.
You don’t have to reply! I promise not to read anymore.
I assume someone who’s been here for years appreciates something. Otherwise, why stay?
People are going to do what people are going to do. I have been a Dollar a day guy since 2001 and contributed on top of that.
Some people can afford that and others can’t, the main thing is that we remain a forum for the exchange of IDEAS.
I be legal!
