Why is Bill Cosby suddenly a bad guy?
Vanity | Vanity

Posted on 11/21/2014 9:15:13 AM PST by pfflier

Bill Cosby has been revered for years as a comedian talking about his youthful experiences in a black neighborhood. His stories are peppered with descriptions of the quirky personalities of his friends, most notable among them, Fat Albert.

Why is Bill Cosby suddenly a bad guy? There has been extensive media coverage, over the past few days, with at least six women now accusing Bill Cosby of sex crimes...purported to happen a long time ago. It has become typical in these kinds of cases for one person to speak out then have several accusers pile on after "consulting their attorneys". The examples of Herman Cain and Clarence Thomas come to mind.

Coincidentally, a few things they all have in common is that their accusers waited years to make the claims and they are all, Cosby, Cain and Thomas, successful black men who have "broken the mold". As a matter of fact all three have been criticized by activists for not being black enough. Specifically, Cosby has made the speaking circuits for some time now, scolding the black community, particularly the youth, about the loss of values in their segment of society and has advocated reform.

It is possible that he is not person we saw publicly, but, the treatment he is receiving by the media is typical of the type that was used to try to destroy the reputation of Cain and Thomas when they were soaring with higher aspirations. That appears to be more than coincidence.

Apart from his years-ago critiques of certain aspects of modern black "culture," Cosby is not someone I would expect the media to target for current political gain. He is an old man and is not known as a political activist. The only curious thing is why all these women took so long to speak out.

I know there is currently an "anti-rape" crusade going on (as if people in normal society condone rape), but maybe Hollywood was different, maybe in the Hollywood subculture it was assumed that powerful men were entitled to have their way sexually, and that it was prudent for aspiring actresses to let them have their way and keep quiet about it.

he’s been a vocal opponent to the victimhood status pushed by the left.

he’s just the next target on the list

and since the elections, it’s time for 0bama to start working on that list before he loses power

One woman may have lied, another one may have collaberated or just did not remember correctly, however in my degree area we were taught that in ‘criminal justice’ there is no such thing as a co incidence.

There is no co incidence in SEVEN..GET THAT NUMBER SEVEN women lying about the same man during the same time frame about RAPE. So don’t talk to me about being liberal..you are the jack%$$!

It’s surprising when somone who has been trusted and generally very well liked public figure for 50 years turns out to be such a person.

Did Constand wait so long, she was drugged and raped in 2004?

While the —13— women that came forward during her case had kept silent until she went forward, she was the victim that broke the story in 2005.

Cosby has always been a nasty POS in his private life; his public nice-guy persona act was just that, an act.

The REAL coverup has been the media keeping this quiet all these decades and pretending the act was his real life.

Why now, though? Most likely a random thing. Once a crack appeared in the dam when someone finally had the courage to come forward, the whole thing collapsed as a flood of others felt it was finally safe to come forward too. It’s up to nine now, and most likely they’ll be others.

The Catholics kept their abuse covered up for a century, and then when their dam finally broke the resulting flood shook the church to its foundations.

Same with Jimmy Savile in the U.K., only in his case the authorities kept his savage behavior covered up until he died:

“I never liked him after I became of age, actually. His schtick thereafter weighed heavy on my smarmy bullshit scale.”

ditto. I heard some of his early comedy records and laughed when they came out, but tuned him out totally after seeing him on his show and the ads he did. The phoniness of his act just jumped off the screen for me, and I was pretty young then too. Possibly you had to actually see his face to realize just what a phony Cosby is, unlike the records where you heard only his voice.

I’ve always been amazed at how the bulk of people in this country fall for such obvious phoniness. Jim and Tammy Feye Bakker are perfect examples. I’ve never seen two more phony people in my life on TV and yet they were collecting tens of millions of dollars from fools who thought these pathetic idiots walked on water.

My wife’s sister works in the industry and she’s always told my wife what a nasty POS Cosby really is in real life.

you are the jack%$$!

LOL! I'm pretty sure I didn't do any name calling. That would be a liberal tactic.

however in my degree area we were taught that in ‘criminal justice’ there is no such thing as a co incidence.

So you have a degree in criminal justice and the lack of evidence does not interfere with your personal conviction of guilt. As long as 7 women have made the accusations, then he's guilty? That's what you learned?

Kackikat, I admitted, I don't know much about the issue. I don't even know much about Cosby (but I am learning a lot here). Beyond the human evil that is being alleged, I don't have a dog in the hunt. If Cosby perpetrated the evils he is accused of, I am supportive of whatever misery is bestowed upon him. My comment was relative to your absolute assertion of his guilt of horrendous crimes. Your statement was of a legal nature, not a moral one. Legally, your assertion has no merit of proof, otherwise, he'd be charged by now. Morally, we may be on the same page.

Good luck with that "Criminal Justice" degree.

Did anyone accuse Herman Cain of RAPE??????

Had he stayed in the race another month, they probably would have.

Perhaps he is guilty, but after the false charges of Tawana Brawley, and against the Duke LaCrosse team and Herman Cain, and the fact one of these accusers was supposedly raped twice because she went back to party with Cosby the next night... I’m a bit jaded about taking anything at face value.

You think this is like Tawana Brawley, the Duke boys, and Herman Cain?

Incredible.

Just how much reading have you done on Cosby, and the men who came forward and said he used spanish fly to have sex with women, in that time frame as well.

Is he necessarily innocent if he gets off as NOT Guilty? NO.

No name calling...the jack%$$ (donkey-see definition) is the icon for democrat liberals. And they are the ones who love to commit crimes and approve them.

Do I really have to explain how some people with an agenda will instigate false claims to further that agenda?

If so, that’s even more incredible.

The entertainment industry has long accommodated sexual misconduct by powerful men against young women. In addition, Cosby’s race and popularity as a celebrity helped to protect him. Yet plaintiff’s lawyers repeatedly tagged Cosby for confidential settlements and he gained a bad reputation in the industry. Eventually, a critical mass was reached of victims willing to come forward on the record. Finally, the press took notice when a comedian took a shot at Cosby and opened the door to determined inquiry.

Your are kidding me right?
The question was why is this a big deal now? Why is everyone worked up about it
I answered the question in terms of why people are so angry.

I never dismissed what happened to these women. The guy is a pig.

Stop looking for a fight and go get angry at someone else.

Jeez; your fuse is just a bit short.
