I have recently started using the term "disarmenter". It was derived from a combination of disarm and demented.
Tomkat, on freerepublic, suggested that the term disarmist was less clumsy and easier to use. Which do you think would be the better term?
dis·arm·en·ter (ds-ärm

1. A political operative who works to disarm political opposition through the use of irrational and/or emotional arguments.

Thanks for the ping, DW.
MT, didn’t mean to start a fuss .. lol
You made a valid point.
Conservatives have a conversation.
Progressive issue commands.
That is true, but I think most of the MDAs are of the phobic variety. The people organizing them are Nefarians who know exactly what they're up to.
Dear marktwain,
For those that do not fit hoplophobe, then the original label fits well, i.e.,
COMMUNIST PXXX-ANT!
I just came upon a thread where you used the word “disarmist.” It was a new word to me, but it was obvious what it meant, so I kept reading without looking it up. I looked it up later, because I wanted to know more about this word that I was adding to my vocabulary. I was surprised not to find it in the dictionary. It feels like a word that has been around a while. Good word. It has my vote.
Thanks for the kind words.
