Well, FRiends..
Last Wednesday, Springfield Armory shipped my XDm .45 with FedEx to my home, and it should be here this Monday.
They had it because each XDm barrel is custom fit for each gun, and to install a threaded, extended barrel for suppressor use, they required the entire pistol be shipped to their shop.
Note to future stamp collectors: Get ALL of your extracurricular armory work done while waiting for your tax stamp.
Hopefully, by Monday evening, I will be getting a knock on my door and my 4.5 inch baby will be delivered.
I need to check their work and make sure that everything is aligned and safe for usage.
The reason that I'm creating this article is because I would really like to hear from other Stamp Collectors.
I want to listen to any advice that they might have.
I also would hope to have this post be useful for other FReepers who are thinking about going through the legal hurdles required to own SBRs, suppressors and other NFA items.
It only took me five months and change to get my tax stamp.
Perhaps it's time for more folks to take the plunge.
I lost my collection in an unfortunate boating accident.
I just got my Yankee Hill suppressor out of jail this past September. It took almost 10 months to go through the process.
I applied this past September for a SBR 300 AAC Blackout. I was told by my class 3 arms dealer that it is going to be @ 7 months.
One word of advice for the aspiring “stamp collectors” out there. Go the family trust route... I kick myself for not going that way now.

i am currently doing the accessorizing while my 300 BLK is in my arm’s dealers safe waiting for ATF. So far, I have purchased the Trijicon 3x30 with the 300 reticle and a Surefire light. I have also procured several hundred rounds of subsonic. That is expensive but I am flirting with reloading.
My wife calls this my paper doll hobby. She is right. There are so many things one can do with these project weapons.

Agreed. I did massive amounts of research before starting this adventure. Prison doesn’t sound fun.
There’s actually a company that makes adapters that use oil filters for suppression.
Here’s Hickok45 using one:

Will do.
Lists don’t bother me. We’re all of some list somewhere already, I’m sure.
I hear ya.
I’m also currently building my first AR rifle. All that’s left is the BCG, barrel, handguard and iron sights.
dust collectors?
Sorry, I am not up to date on this...
One $200 stamp only covers the suppressor that it’s for. On my stamp, the NFA inspector wrote the serial number for my Osprey on the stamp itself. It’s good for life -no re-registering required.
Here’s a good link to read about this:

3 stamps here, one can and two shorties.
Got one of them in NY. Personal interview with the sheriff, who ended it with “in 13 years as sheriff I’ve never been asked to sign a Form 4; enjoy your AOW, and make sure I never hear about this again.”
“What was $200 worth back then?”
About $3000. Clearly intended as a practical ban.
That is what we call suppressors to avoid undue attention, since the line is blurred about the legality of their use on airguns. Some website owners are jumpy about it so they insist on using a dodge that the device is useful to capture lead pellet dust.
I saw that video and the one from the actual manufacturer. The stamp is good for that filter only. When that specific filter wears out you send in another $75 to the company and they send you another filter with the same serial number. You can’t just go down to your Walmart and pick up any filter. It has to have the serial number on it. Anything else is in violation of Federal law and that means possible prison time. No thanks. I went through the process and my suppressor is waiting patiently at my FFL. Time is almost up and I’ll hopefully have it in my hands in November. Glock 17 and 147 grain 9mm subsonic ammo. nice.

November’s when I thought I’d have to wait. Six months after the check was cashed, and it was good to go. Surprised the heck out of me when it happened so fast.
About the oil filter thing? Nope. Suppressors get REAL hot. And oil filters have paper inside. That’s asking for trouble. I’ll stick with the higher technologies that have a lifetime warranty.
You gonna post a picture of yours when you get it?
Ping to post #57.
Ain’t she pretty?
I think you can pay $200 for a adapter that allows you to screw a filter on the gun.
I’m impressed.Looks like superior workmanship.I have to learn to post pics,I’d show you my MP5A3 with it’s AWC MK9A.Not nearly as smooth looking as your gun,but very effective.
