This is foolish. Or belief is taken directly from Scripture and sacred Tradition as was the practice of the early Church Fathers, and the belief of the most celebrated theologians in history from Augustine to Aquinas to Benedict today to say nothing of those eminent theologians from the Protestant and Episcopalian worlds who have converted to Catholcism. What you say is lazy shallow Christianity the type the Osteens and Rev. Wrights, Billy Grahams, and David Koresh propagate, all resulting in a major mudslide of heretical versions of Christianity.
Lumping Rev. Wright and David Koresh with Billy Grahams speaks a lot about your blind vitriol. Sad.
You talk about wafers and wine and tradition and such. Me? To quote Paul, I’ve decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. Preaching Christ is not “lazy and shallow.”
These kind of random reference to scriptural snippets are of no use. This is why several scholarly articles have been written about “why” Bible Christianity is so shallow. Once you deny Petrine authority the mud flows. Koresh and Rev. Wright both said they knew the “truth” as does Graham and Rev. Moon and the Osteens. Our saints and martyrs and the early Church fathers worshipped the Christ in the Eucharist and the Mass. This is not about cracking opening the pages of the Bible and thumping out chapter and verse.
Ugh.
So Scripture is “of no use.” And “Biblical Christianity is so shallow.”
Your faith is so sad, so thoughtless, so impersonal ...
And to think that I first posted on this thread to affirm your Pope ...
You represent Roman Catholic arrogance at its most pathetic, Steel. You love the bread and hate the Christ.
The consecrated bread is the living Christ- this has been the teaching of the Church Fathers from the time of the early Church Fathers. Go do some serious reading on Bishop St Iraneus who died just seventeen years after the death of St. John. Why is is arrogance to believe in the words of Christ as taught by Peter and his successors. ?
