My family and I are heading to Stevens Point on the ninth, and will be there until the 13th.
(Yes, I've checked all of the gun laws between Denver and there)
I just wanted to ask if there was anything worth checking out in that area.
I already found the gun shop (Heavy Metal Firearms), and was wondering if there was anything else.
I really want to head over to Milwaukee to thank Sheriff Clarke and shake his hand, but don't think I'll have the time.
OMG!!
My Wife just said that if I had to leave the wedding for some reason, no problem.
FRRREEEEEEDOOOOOOMMMMMM!!!!!
(My Wife just plain rocks!)
Game on!
Also? The Stand was such a great book. Randall Flagg.....nice.
I live in Monona and work in Middleton - just skirting Soggie’s Dumtopia - and yet my employers are hardcore conservatives and I at least don’t have to be exposed to liberals at work. Capital missed the mark - kinda sour for a marzen - I thought Leinie’s was on par with Paulaner this year though!
True dat. Stay below the limit and don't stop to spend ANY money in the State.
Oh, you are a very cruel FReeper, ain’t cha?
Now, I’ll have to pound down about a pound of cheese from my poor refrigerator to hold me over until we get there...
;-)
Be sure to take some Spotted Cow home with you. Wonderful brew
We avoided IL like the plague.
The Mustard Museum in Madison. No, that’s not just the name; It’s a museum, devoted to mustard. While you’re there, take some time to enjoy the freak show that is Madison. Visit the capitol at noon when the loons perform to get little taste of what the Act 10 union takeover was like.
Trust me on this one: On your way there or home, if you happen to find yourself on I94, I highly recommend you stop in Racine for some Danish Kringle, a local specialty pastry. You want the kind called O&H, not the ersatz and far inferior “Racine Danish Kringle” which merely trades on the name. You can actually pick it up at their satellite location at the Iron Skillet truck stop at the Rt. 20 (Racine) exit from I-94. I recommend the pecan, but you really can’t go wrong with any flavor.

The Stevens Point Brewery, the 5th oldest continuously operating brewery in the US, is steeped in a history that has transcended the trials of the Civil War, the Great Depression and Prohibition. More than 150 years later, the Stevens Point Brewery continues to be Wisconsin-owned and independently operated.
An hour drive away in Oshkosh is the greatest aviation museum in the Midwest.

Wow! This place is pretty!
Weird, though. Stevens Point is supposed to be a college town? Then why the frak do they stop selling booze at 21:00?!?!
I wanted to get some New Glarus products and they were all, “NOPE!”
GAAHHH!
I’m glad someone else who’s going to be at the wedding had some.
Oh, and OMG!!
These folks sure love Governor Walker! There’s signs all over the place.
I’ll bet Hickenlooper wished that that was the case in Colorado.
Well, the wedding went great. I gotta admit, while all of the ladies were waving their hands in front of their eyes to keep their mascara from running with tears, I came close to doing the same.
There is Stevens Point Brewery. If you can find fried cheese curds at a restaurant, your life will be complete.
You could drive south on 51 for about 20 miles and try to find Ed Gein’s property in Plainfield. His house was burned down, but the hardware store where the owner was murdered is still in operation, on Rte. 73 East.
And you can find ammo at Shopko, a regional department store.
