I am a corporate finance guy and one year ago took a job in a small company, a job that involved training to replace the controller who was getting ready to retire. This job was something of a stretch for me as I had no prior management experience and no experience in some of the areas that fall under the position that I was hired for. Things did not work out -Friday I was told that they would be letting me go and seeking someone else. This was not totally unxpected, the last 6 months or so I had been feeling that this would not work out for me. They have offered to give me good references, as I am very good at the areas in which I have worked in during the past 15 years.

I'm asking for some prayers. I have seen these prayers requests and have been moved by them. I am not the kind of person who feels comfortable asking for help, but I have never needed help as much as I do know. During the past difficult 6 months or so I have been praying every day, but this is not something that I have been used to. I have been listening to a lot of Christian music lately and have found this helpful.

I am a long time Freeper and have always been moved by the praeyer threads. Thanks.

I, too, am in a quagmire. During this time, it always changes, I have made my motto “The Joy of the LORD is my strength.” Praying that you come to see his hand in your life every day and that you experience the joy that gives us strength to continue.

Also, listen to one of my favorite songs, “My Wish For You” by Rascal Flatts. I sing it to my son when I hear it (changing wish to prayer) but there are many here who are praying this for you.

God bless you by glorifying His name through your life.

Jeremiah 29:11-13

11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

God will provide while you are out of work but He might be sending you a message about your relationship with Him while you are on your knees so listen closely.

In my case, it took losing three jobs and a great deal of self-pride before I “got it” and then another year of being out of work before I had another job then another nine months before I had a job that paid close to what I was making when I was laid off.

I know godly men who have been out of work even longer. So begin by confessing your sins (make an itemized list), dig into the Scriptures and pray for the cleansing of the Holy Spirit and direction for whatever He would have you do with the next step in your life then wait.

Lord Jesus, help “spiffy” to understand your purpose for this job change and help him to become reliant on You for his needs and grateful for whatever You might reveal to him. Move him in the way that You would have him go. Allow him to shed the things in his life that you find unnecessary so he can focus on his walk with You before returning him to the workforce in a capacity that serves Your purposes. In Your Holy name, we pray. Amen.

I do pray you find work. May the Lord bless your efforts, and may you learn to rely on Him for salvation and your daily bread.

Father I just ask that you open a door for this man. I don’t know him but you do. I don’t know his needs but you do.

You have always done this for me and now I ask that you do it for him.

In Jesus’ name.

Be sure to take the Civil Service and Post Office exams. High scores get rewarded. Good luck. Don’t be afraid to re-locate.
