...We learn of a Maronite Christian seeking a liaison with Hezbollah and it sounds horrifically bad until you realize the purpose is to work together to fight ISIS, for instance. Her descriptive language for the various Christian leaders...suggests a lack of intimacy with the topic....
...When Cruz was supposed to give the keynote address and discuss the deadly serious topic of persecution of Christians, he instead insulted a largely immigrant and foreign crowd as a group that didnt understand their own political situation and stomped out of the room after calling them a bunch of haters....
The fact is, as Mark Tooley explains in a very thoughtful and balanced piece, that Christians who are persecuted have political views that may not align with U.S. interests. Who knew? For many of us, our concern about genocide of Christians isnt limited to those who are perfectly aligned with our views. Someone will have to explain to me how positioning Cruz and the Free Beacon this way as the go-to group for missing the point on Christian persecution is a good thing for either of them or the military solutions they seek....
While the case absolutely can and should be made that support for Israel does help the fight against Christian persecution, it would be naive and wrong for Christians to think that the United States has their interests at heart globally (or domestically, it seems!). And the United States has no governmental obligation to help out the Christians who are dying in the Middle East, although it would be wonderful if we could stop doing things that lead so quickly to their persecution. But I do wonder if some hawks misunderstand or underestimate American Christian sentiment about our brothers and sisters in Christ at their peril.

He didn’t insult them he expressed his opinion as an American. And he was right.
I meant the article.
No, but neither have we really. Obama’s pathetic little ‘mountain rescue’ photo op was a sham
They still have a moral obligation to help if they can.
To hell with them, if they deal with muslims they are just as bad as the muslims.
Ship them all back to the middle east!
I think that may have been what set them off from what I read somewhere this morning. He was basically telling them that Israel is their best friend in the region and I think their experiences may have left them feeling somewhat at odds with that statement. I’m not sure though, all of the reporting on this mess makes it nearly impossible to make out who is who and what is what.
What the hell they sposed to do ya moe-ron?
Conservatives “have got to be careful” not to upset leftists??
True Christians don’t hate any persons or people. Your nationality has nothing to do with being a brother in Christ. I don’t hear the Jewish people hating Germans or Arabs as a general rule, nor of their religious beliefs.
We as Christians need to wake up to those trying to claim kinship with us who hate the Israelies. They are Gods people and He has His Hand on them whether we like it or not. We should be praying for the peace of Jerusalem. Even so, come Lord Jesus.
Oh? Is ISIS operating in Israel? No? Then why should they go out of country to do it? The have their own survival to contend with - HAMAS is not going away soon ....
As far as I know....Israel(Jews) protect Christians, Jews, and Muslims...and liberal atheist inside of their borders. PERIOD
They have enough to do without going and looking for a fight...
Ted Cruz did not insult the small group in the crowd...
that Booed him...he told them the truth.
I am all in on TED Cruz...he won the votes of Texans
against all the elected Republican Establishment
officials of Texas..and against former Gov. Huckleberry
on Fox News...
“I have to ask, about Israel. Have they done anything to help save the Christians, Yazitis, and other minorities from ISIS?”
They might if given some time inbetween rocket attacks ....
Cruz underestimated the inbred hatred of Jews that these Muslims in Christian clothing have.
FWIW Cruz received about an equal amount of applause and ridicule. The hecklers carried the day.
Cruz was right. If these “Christians” will not stand with the Jews, then we should not stand with them.
If they hate Jews then they are not Christians and have been sold and bought a false doctrine. Christ is a Jew do they hate him too?
Cruz told it like it is, this bunch just wanted the usual rah-rah PC crap sandwich and got mad when he refused to serve up the usual entree.
seems this heckler group was a very specific vocal group of anti-Israel persons.
“They still have a moral obligation to help if they can.”
No they don’t!!!
If these people are Jew Haters, Ted Cruz did the right thing.
The rockets have somewhat scaled back for the past two weeks or so I think. Humanitarian airlifts and rescue choppers would be helpful.
