...We learn of a Maronite Christian seeking a liaison with Hezbollah and it sounds horrifically bad until you realize the purpose is to work together to fight ISIS, for instance. Her descriptive language for the various Christian leaders...suggests a lack of intimacy with the topic....
...When Cruz was supposed to give the keynote address and discuss the deadly serious topic of persecution of Christians, he instead insulted a largely immigrant and foreign crowd as a group that didnt understand their own political situation and stomped out of the room after calling them a bunch of haters....
The fact is, as Mark Tooley explains in a very thoughtful and balanced piece, that Christians who are persecuted have political views that may not align with U.S. interests. Who knew? For many of us, our concern about genocide of Christians isnt limited to those who are perfectly aligned with our views. Someone will have to explain to me how positioning Cruz and the Free Beacon this way as the go-to group for missing the point on Christian persecution is a good thing for either of them or the military solutions they seek....
While the case absolutely can and should be made that support for Israel does help the fight against Christian persecution, it would be naive and wrong for Christians to think that the United States has their interests at heart globally (or domestically, it seems!). And the United States has no governmental obligation to help out the Christians who are dying in the Middle East, although it would be wonderful if we could stop doing things that lead so quickly to their persecution. But I do wonder if some hawks misunderstand or underestimate American Christian sentiment about our brothers and sisters in Christ at their peril.

>> I'm pretty sure that Jesus stated in the New Testament that Christians would be judged by the fruit of their lives. <<
>> Now, correct me if I am wrong, but I'm pretty sure that murder breaks one of the ten commandments. >> Now, that means Sirhan, Sirhan was not a Christian, no matter what he called himself. is a Christian. <<
You're correct that murder breaks one of the ten commandments and is considered a sin.
You're incorrect if you believe that breaking a commandment means a person is "not a Christian". In fact, if we applied your argument that breaking a commandment means someone is "not a Christian", then I doubt there would be ANY Christians in the world at all.
All Christians (and indeed, all people in the world except Jesus himself and the Virgin Mary) are sinners and the Bible points this out numerous times. Committing a sin doesn't mean someone ceases to be a Christian.
You could argue that Sirhan Sirhan's actions showed he was not a GOOD Christian and did a poor job of living up to what Christ wanted, but nevertheless Christianity was his religious belief.
Nice try. Political Zionism as nationalistic state-based Zionism as opposed to cultural Zionism that didn't aim at establishing a Jewish state. Political Zionism wasn't even something most Jews favored prior to WWII. It would hardly have been realistic to expect Arabs to embrace it.
Don't like it? Then let us part ways.
Fine by me.
Pro-Israel speech pretty much draws out the pro-communist, pro-muslim, anti-Israel evil bunch, regardless which label they happen to be hiding under.
You mean like in the Book of Joshua? Or perhaps that was really only "cultural Zionism?"
Some so-called "conservatives" are so inexplicably opposed to turning back the clock three thousand years. Must be closet liberals.
Didn’t think it was. More examples of what Israel has done right only reinforce my argument. Thanks.
A completely classless and shameful way to talk about a conservative Christian lady.
If she is against Cruz then she is against me as well. To hell with her and anyone else who agrees with her liberal opinion.
Mollie needs to be slapped a few times.
Ted Cruz did not insult them, he simply stood up for Israel and the truth.
Excuse you! What if someone said that about your spouse?
She is an enemy of this country and my people.
If they are genuine Christians they will love, not hate, Israel and Jews. Ted Cruz was spot on to walk out on their hypocrisy, and I praise him for having the Spirit of truth to tell the truth.
Their concern for persecuted, even nominal, Christians takes a back seat when Israel and the Jews are involved. Name them haters of Zion; the Moslems own them, sad to say, although the ones really being raped, tortured, murdered, and/or exiled may have a clue by now, unlike their safely ensconced spokespersons.
Israel provides one of the very, very, very few safe havens for Christians in the ME. Despite widespread, endemic, ugly, satanic, antisemitism among the hordes of the ME, including some who vainly claim the name of Christian, Israel survives. Does that trouble your soul ?
