My son saw that one of his classmates were being physically harassed by a kid in his gym class. He tried to tell his teacher but this other student was the coach’s son and the bullying never stopped. I told him then he had 2 choices: keep his head down and not get involved or he could stand up for his classmate. He was warned though, there would be consequences either way but that he was free to make this choice himself. One week later I was called in to bring my son home from school early. He had been expelled because he knocked the coach’s son down and there was blood. I asked him later if he thought it was worth getting kicked out of school. He said it was because now that bully would never grow up to be a predator.

“He said it was because now that bully would never grow up to be a predator.”

And your son will grow up to be manly. Bravo!
