The hacking collective known as Anonymous is trying to shine a light on the roots of the racial violence in a St. Louis suburb.
On Aug. 13, the group published hours of alleged police dispatch tapes from the day Ferguson, Mo., police shot and killed unarmed teen Michael Brown.
That same day, one of a handful of Twitter accounts claiming to be associated with the Anonymous group posted comments they say came from the wife of Ferguson Police Chief Tom Jackson.
Speaking of people in Ferguson, a woman identified as Catherine Nardi wrote: "They are feral and violent. They murder each other. They murder their unborn babies. They murder white people. They hate police officers and murder some of them, even black ones. They destroy neighbors and entire cities with garbage and drugs. They live their lives off the hard-earned tax dollars of other Americans. Yet somehow they are victims. What insanity is that?"
The comments have been retweeted more than 5,400 times.
But the person in the Facebook message, Catherine Nardi, is not the wife of the Ferguson police chief.
Nardi lives in St. Petersburg, Fla., not Missouri, according to public records. She is married to Henry Nardi, who is not the police chief of Ferguson. We reached out to Nardi via Facebook, but she did not respond. A woman answering a phone number associated with her hung up on a reporter.
According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Jacksons wife is named Patricia, not Catherine. We were unable to reach Jacksons wife.
As for the specific words in the message, we did not find them on Nardis Facebook page or anywhere else.
Our ruling
A post from a group claiming that it is associated with Anonymous said that the wife of the Ferguson, Mo., police chief said African-Americans in Ferguson "are feral and violent," among other things.
The tweet references a Facebook post that is not from Jacksons wife. The woman in the picture lives in Florida not Missouri.
We rate this claim Pants on Fire.
Nope, according to them that’s acceptable venting.
Lol! Well my point still applies!
If the stolen tv fits...
So why did she call them ferrets?
Cute of you to source Politifacts, but have it appear to be another source, untill one clicks on the link.
Other than that, your “exerpt” was clear that the police chief's wife was NOT the person who posted the comments.
Did you have a point?
What else would you call the rioters??
Is the whole MSM still calling them “protesters”? This is not protesting, this is robbing, looting, arson, rioting, violence.....
So you were there when the incident went down, and you saw everything?
I don’t mind choosing sides. I say they’re “feral” too.
“Acceptable venting”...
Hmmm... let’s see what happens, and how the libs react when they “vent” in rich, white liberal neighborhoods...
Pass the popcorn, brother!
A ping from the kill all who say Islam is violent desk. Thanks 2ndDivisionVet.
What I said was:
"The Ferguson police are a bunch of jack booted thugs, one of whom likely executed a man after he surrendered."
It is known that the officer shot Brown multiple times. It has been stated by at least two unrelated witnesses that brown fired the first shot from his patrol SUV and the remainder from close range. It has been stated by the same two witnesses that Brown was in a position of surrender when killed. It is known that the do "anything it takes to get home safe" attitude leads cops to violate citizens rights. It is also known that cops are rarely personally held to account for their actions. Further, much can be infered about the jack booted culture of this police department by the wanna-be military response it has adopted. Therefore it is painfully obvious they are JBTs and likely that the cop executed Brown.
I claim no infallability, I simply processed information and formed a conlusion, acertaining what is certain and what is likely. I understand that many on FR don't want to believe what police forces have become but that is no reason to get snippy with me just because I point out the uncomfortable.
It is also pretty well known that there was a physical altercation before the shots were fired. The officer in question had to be treated at a hospital. Did the officer believe the youth was pulling a weapon? We don’t know as yet. We don’t know all the facts, and neither do you.
However, all one has to know about Anonymous is that it’s a group of people that live by this idea that you blindly follow and support your fellow Anons that you don’t know personally, with more blind faith than I would put into my own sons and daughter. I would reprimand them if they ever did some rude online hacking like this. They would also be expected to either be working or looking for work if not employed, not be sitting on a computer in the basement of my home.
They’re pretty much the online version of OWS.
