Karina Velasco paid her way through college by cleaning office buildings in downtown Washington for five hours every evening. She did her schoolwork after getting home at midnight, and is on track to receive her degree in social work next spring. Karina is a model citizen except for one thing. She’s an illegal immigrant. She crossed the border without papers from her home in Mexico 10 years ago, whresponsibleaying for damages to car,medical bills.etc,etc.en she was 14. Under a program initiated by President Obama in 2012, Karina is one of about 550,000 young people, sometimes called “DREAMers,” who qualify for “deferred action” regarding their immigration status. That means they can obtain a work permit, a driver’s license, a social security number and some assurance that they won’t be deported. Karina can now work for a social service agency that helps other young people deal with the mental side effects of illegal immigration: stress, depression, fear. She knows the symptoms because she suffered them herself. “One night I woke up with a nightmare — my mom and dad were being deported,” she recalls. “I was crying and crying and I called my mother. I was like, ‘tell me you’re OK, tell me you’re here. What am I going to do with my brother here by myself? Who am I going to turn to?’ It was something I was always thinking about.” Karina’s terrors have abated, but she knows her protected status is not guaranteed. Obama’s program could be canceled by a Republican president. “I am always living with the uncertainty of what will happen,” she says. “I am scared that in a future day I won’t be able to renew my deferred action, and I will be in limbo again.”

Well I would urge the dreamers to support real border control (including the airports and visa overstayers). Because only after that is accomplished should anything be done for these lawbreakers.
Look I understand it was her parents’ choice and not hers to break the law. But if your parent robs a bank, do you get to keep the money?

You want your nightmares to become happy dreams? Your fear is entirely yours to mend. Go home and enter the country legally.
If your worth to society is as high as you estimate it, you should have no problem.
She’s complaining to a politician. Has she ever voted (illegally)?
Did she pay instate or out of state tuition?

Does she think she should be moved to the front of the line for citizenship ahead of those who paid their fees, filed their paperwork, jumped through hoops, and have been waiting for years?

We have a legal immigration process. All immigrants should go through it. Period.
Let me sum this up for you.
Illegals from mexico/central/south america are barbarian looters who come up here to pillage and plunder as much as they can, and remit it to whatever godforsaken socialist country they came from. And they get the blessing of the political class for their service of rigging elections, running drugs and guns, and working for slave wages, for which in return, ALL of the political class reward them with welfare dollars courtesy of the taxpayers.
And spare me the GWB “just doing the jobs americans won’t do” OR the BHO “dreamers” BS.
Apparently, illegal immigration is about the only thing that democrats, republicans, and their financiers can agree on as profitable to all groups.
Some of these “jobs that Americans won’t do” are closed shops to anyone who isn’t hispanic, can’t speak with the co-workers.
Literally there is no english known or understood by the crews.
I know people who can’t get work in kitchens because of it.
And this “dreamer” went to college so she wouldn’t have to do this job that she doesn’t want to do anymore. She would be entering the workforce as a degreed professional. There are millions of them out of work in this country already, so she WOULD be competing for a job that Americans want to do (and have put in time and money to secure a degree to do).
She should see about employment opportunities in Mexico. The second richest man in the world lives there.
There are industries and big gains to be made back HOME.
Portraying her homeland as a vast wasteland is insulting to her own heritage.
Is this a right that applies to everyone? Is it in the Constitution?
This is my country not hers. If she wants to make it hers she should try following the LAW. Get in line an wait. MY people all came here LEGALLY. She can do the same.

When Obola does his EO-amnesty she’ll use her divers license along with the Motor-Voter act to register and vote.
