I am not getting this bashing of Ventura... yeah he is a bit of a buffoon, but HE WON in court.

Proving defamation is very hard and there is a high burden of proof, and he was able to prove it.

It was not unfair, if the guy had not died he would be forced to apologize for it.

Yes he could have dropped the case- but the guy made $6 million defaming Ventura and Ventura has $2million reasons not to have dropped it

Leave him alone, I say- he proved his case

"and he was able to prove it."

Only to 8 of 10 jurors. The defendants agreed to fold to make the buffoon just go away and be able to get on with their lives.

“Proving defamation is very hard and there is a high burden of proof, and he was able to prove it.”
The jury was “hung”. The judge offered to settle the case. Kyle’s attorneys rolled the dice only to find it was 8 for Ventura the wimp and two against.
Bad lawyers, piss poor decision.
Ventura the wimp did not prove anything.

From what I read, the jury was deadlocked, but the judge would not declare a mistrial.

Besides, Ventura has a reputation for shooting his mouth off.

there is a high burden of proof

How can you prove a case against a guy who is dead? He's not even there to face his accuser. If it was a criminal case and either the accuser or alleged perp was dead, the case would have been dropped. How can you win a case against someone who is not there to defend himself?

Ventura is a jackass who has professed his admiration of Castro and Che. He is a public figure and this did not harm his already smarmy reputation. I say that the scumbag should dig deep for personal security.

I was wondering why Kyle would bad mouth someone like that if it wasn’t true, and then I read this........

http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2014/07/30/the-complicated-but-unveriable-legacy-of-chris-kyle-the-deadliest-sniper-in-american-history/

Hmmm, not to speak bad of the dead but is that some BS I’m smelling?

“He went down to New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina and picked off dozens of bad guys”

Oh really? Wow that’s interesting. “Dozens”.. So in other words he says he shot and killed more than 24 people, 30 he said later on, down in New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina and of course nobody in the press picked up on this even though cops were arrested and sentenced to jail for shooting and killing just 2. Nobody was wondering why “dozens” of people were laying around with bullet holes in them.

Ventura isn’t stupid, he knows damn well it makes him look like a slimebag suing a vets widow, but to me it seems more likely he was doing this because he was really pissed off. What would really piss him off? If someone made up a BS story about him badmouthing vets!

“It was not unfair, if the guy had not died he would be forced to apologize for it.”

If he had not died, he would have been able to defend himself in court. The outcome may have been different.

but HE WON in court.

Another example of the corrupted courts. Jessie Ventura's name was not even mentioned in the book. Good example why we have lost our freedom with decisions like this.

“but HE WON in court.”

So did OJ.

Jesse Ventura has a larger than life personality and the jury may have been enamored of him. If Kyle had been there, the jury may have been enamored of him.

They probably would have voted for the man they thought was the bigger celebrity.

In Texas he would have been laughed out of court.

If Chris Kyle had taken the stand, Jesse Ventura would have lost. It would have been Chris Kyle's word against Jesse Ventura's. Who would YOU have believed.

Since Kyle was dead it was Jesse Ventura (the former governor of the state where the trial was held) against some words in a book.

Ventura is a pig. And he can't sue me because it's true.

And don’t forget Jesse got his good name back and I’m sure now the SEAL’s will make him feel welcome at the reunions.
