If President Obama thought that state governors would have an open door policy to letting his administration place thousands of unaccompanied Central American children in their state, he is in for a surprise. According to Fox News, a growing number of state governors are saying not so fast to Obamas effort to relocate thousands of illegal alien children from Central America with alleged friends or family members.
Sylvia Matthews Burwell, Secretary of Health and Human Services met with dozens of governors on Sunday at the National Governors Association summer meeting in Nashville. Her goal for the meeting was to listen to the rising concerns that the stat leaders had with providing care and even public education for the children, who supposedly would be shown the door to the border in a short while.
Secretary Burwell, apparently did not want to disclose her presence or the governors disdain to reporters after the meeting and managed to leave the confab through a side door, reported Fox News.
Although the Obama official was too timid to speak with reporters, Colorado Democrat Governor did give his opinion, saying, However we deal with the humanitarian aspects of this, weve got to do it in the most cost-effective way possible, according to Fox News.
Republican governors were critical about the administrations plans, including Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker. They raised an important point about Obamas plan to deal with the crisis by placing these children with supposed legal relatives. In fact, administration officials have offered no plan to check the legal immigration status of the families in question. So in effect, Obamas efforts could be locating illegal children in homes of illegal relatives and illegal friends.
Due to Obamas 2012 Executive Order which allowed nearly one million illegal aliens to gain a free ride card to stay in America, many conservatives believe that this will be the case for the 57,000 illegal Central American children already in America since last October.
Park the Katrina trailers on the lawn of the White House and let moochelle feed them from her garden.
Except that some of them already have been duped.
The placement of children has been going on since at least April. Most governors, like the citizenry, didn’t even know about the Invasion of Children until just a few weeks ago.
Let’s see.. Martha’s vineyard is a good place to put a few thousand, Hiannis. Nancy Pelosi has expressed an interest in the illegal children. Place 100 or so there. God there are so many places to put these kids besides in our towns.
Yeah...it’s interesting how Perry asks that Obama call out the National Guard for border control....
but he fails to do anything himself. What’s he waiting for? Christmas? Or is he just doing a little lip service to make it appear as if he’s concerned about the Texas border? Not convincing, Rick.
No EBT funding would equate to instant riots in every major city.
Perhaps, but think of it the other way: what if the governor treated it like an invasion and acted appropriately, calling on the National Guard to [forcibly] seal the border and then demanded help from the Federal government under Art IV, Sec IV and then that happened?
It'd give a lot of emotionally-charged credence to the claim that the federal government was retaliating against the State — and that would be some damning allegations considering the Constitution's definition of Treason.
Saying they don’t want illegals camped in their state is one thing. Actually putting a stop to it is another. Station the state guards around those camps and dare the feds to cross the line. These governors need to be on tv 24/7 and bringing the message to the people. You know, We the People. Those of us who are US citizens and taxpayers.
It's kabuki play — he's saying stuff, refusing to do what he can, and making it seem like his hands are tied.
This is a common tactic in Congress with things that are their responsibility but whith which they wish to avoid accountability — they can't regulate the Dollar's value, because that's the Federal Reserve's job (and they can't audit the reserve either, because of… reasons), Carbon Credits too wonky to force on the general population? No problem! Just have the EPA make regulation changes and keep funding them even while whining and throwing a [for show] temper-tantrum. The public is upset about the NSA collecting all their information? Make some semi-outraged statements, make some excuses (terrorists, don'cha know!), and then continue funding the agency. And so on, and so on.
But, but Perry promised millions of tax dollars in for the guard to go to the border!!! Yeah, whatever. Just another of Perry’s sticking his finger in the wind after the fact. I’d like to see those troops on the border actually turning illegals back. Not holding my breath because we all know it isn’t going happen. Just like he’s done nothing about all those illegals living in East Austin within view of his office window.
Blue state Govs are doing more than Perry’s doing, on this invasion/camp situation.
Perry’s *response* has been pathetic.
Obama comes to visit Texas and sits Rick Perry in the corner across from a staffer, that speaks volumes. This current administration is completely lawless and is going to continue the destruction of what is left of American culture and values..
Rick Perry knows that even Texas is very dependent on Federal money and that if cut off , Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, El paso, and Austin would burn.
The governors can get on tv, radio etc and point back to the democrats what they are doing. They just keep letting everything slide.
At least some are showing who is in charge> Some headlines from Drudge
BACKTRACK: MD governor asks White House NOT to send illegals to his state...
CT rejects children...
Tents. White House lawn. Better yet a certain property in Chicago.
The BCFS (group that WAS going to put up illegals in a S TX resort) CEO is a Perry donor. Could this be why Perry is pretty much silent on this resort/BCFS camps initiative?
Perry’s silence (and inaction) is deafeningly curious.
