Buyer’s Remorse
PJ Media/Belmont Club ^ | 7/8/2014 | Richard Fernandez

...The nation’s intellectual elites made a big vanity purchase in 2008 and the damage from that purchase cannot wholly be undone. Peggy Noonan herself endorsed Barack Obama in 2008. She then wrote glowingly of him:

"He climbed steep stairs, born off the continent with no father to guide, a dreamy, abandoning mother, mixed race, no connections. He rose with guts and gifts. He is steady, calm...."

That collective purchase is going to leave a mark....History is funny in that way. It doesn’t let one off the hook. Kids a hundred years hence are going to learn that this generation screwed up. This generation threw it all away. It can’t be hidden in the talking points. Perhaps this is as it must be, so posterity can hold us up to be negative role models.

[....]

And what a bill it is: the price for all the babies tossed into the dumpster, money borrowed and wasted and the lies we told ourselves. It’s forced on us if only because there are no private vanity purchases where selecting men who control nuclear weapons are concerned — only smart buys and stupid ones — and this was a stupid buy. As any high school student might have told you from the Cliffnotes cheat sheet on Crime and Punishment, suffering is part of the price of redemption, not just for yourself, but for everyone.....

Perhaps the saddest thing about Obama is what Dostoevsky points out. They exchanged it all for an empty suit. The elite traded their heritage: the greatest country in the world for a bowl of pottage that held nothing. That’s what really hurts. How many would now be glad to have what they threw away?

Obama is the first president in my lifetime who's immediate impact on my life can be quantified in property and specific liberties lost.

If I wanted I could sit with a pen, paper and calculator and list the liberties and income this man has cost me directly. My loses are not insignificant.

But they could have returned him in 2012 and did not. One time I might forgive but twice?

And I don’t think Noonan has ever made a proper mea culpa for her stupidity in endorsing Mr First Rate Temperament.

Sometimes, you do something that is so mind-bogglingly stupid, so ridiculously out of line, that there is no redemption or coming back from it. Peggy's endorsement of Obama is one of those things.

My loses are not insignificant.

And then you start to tally the losses that everyone has suffered, or at least those that we know about now. That bill is getting pretty big and bigger by the day.

“But the people refused to obey the voice of Samuel. And they said, ‘No! But there shall be a king over us, that we also may be like all the nations, and that our king may judge us and go out before us and fight our battles.’” (I Samuel 8:19-20 ESV)

It doesn’t let one off the hook.

Nonsense. If one is able to write and re-write history, and teach it in classrooms, and broadcast it on mass media, and make movies that support it, turn the hook around and put it right through the throat of the side that was wronged in the first place.

“Kids a hundred years hence are going to learn that this generation screwed up.”

Well, don’t look at me. I never voted for him. 57.5% of voting age population even bothered to vote and 50.9% voted for him. So, only 29% of those who could vote, voted for him. They screwed up. (42.5% didn’t vote: they screwed up too.)

I haven’t seen an apology from Noonan, either, but for a long time now she has been writing very good and hard hitting columns about our screw-up-in-chief. She knows she was wrong.

It’s pretty obvious why his parents abandoned him. They didn’t want him around either.

I’ve been thinking of this a lot lately:

Ah, sinful nation,
people laden with iniquity,
offspring who do evil,
children who deal corruptly,
who have forsaken the Lord,
who have despised the Holy One of Israel,
who are utterly estranged!

(Isaiah 1:4 NRSV)

I watched Obama speak the other night. I thought, “Oh! He’s giving us ‘The Old Smooth Act!’” I’ve seen that act dozens of times by people of every color and from both sexes. Some people do The Old Smooth Act when they are in trouble and are trying to explain the trouble away so they can go and do what they want instead of doing their job. I have to admit, Obama put on one of the best performances of The Old Smooth Act that I have ever seen.

My response to Obama’s act is the same I had for everyone who tried to pull The Old Smooth Act on me.

“Save that bulls**t for someone else and get back to work or I’ll replace you with someone who will work.”

An empty suit with a sharp crease. Boy it doesn’t take much to rope in these idiots. They had plenty of evidence that he was an anti-american leftist.
Now they are shocked at their choice.
Now the 64 dollar question is..will they do it all again with Hillary or Warren? The answer is probably yes. Boy are we screwed.
Last night even Bryan Williams said the people in DC were busy screwing during the shut down..just like they have been screwing us for years..what a commentary.

Same here, dude...

30% loss in income for starters. And this is DIRECTLY due to Obama and Holder, not just a result of the economy. They attacked the sector that I was in.

But, look on the bright side! People like Noonan got to prove how “unracist” they were by voting for the black guy!

So, see, it’s all worth it!

That was my initial reaction to this article. This country seems so damn far gone down the rabbit hole. There’s no stopping this train, I don’t think.

While I had some “be prepared!” tendencies before the Election of 2012, that day turned me into a full-blown prepper. Since the country can’t be saved, and since a majority of the voters here don’t think it needs saving, the best we can do is prepare our families, and maybe our local communities. Resilience will be key.

The only reason people aren't mobbing the WH is that its mostly the business specifically targeted - coal, etc, and small business people, sole proprietors and self employed, who've so far taken it in the throat.

To most salaried folks the changes for the worse are more subtle and indirect - gas & food prices, workforce reductions. But they'll have their turn.

What a load of garbage.

There is no “buyer's remorse”. None.

Just the other day there was an article saying that all the Wall Street big money was lining up behind Hillary. You know, the guys who are shoveling $75,000 to Chelsea for a 45 minute speech.

Some may have shaken off their blinders, but the vast majority of other “elites” remain completely incapable of discernment and reason. I believe they are divinely blinded. They have willingly exchanged the truth for a lie and now are being given over to the their “rewards”. They are, and will continue to, reap what they have sown, and the average American is merely collateral damage.

The elite have all they need, and more. Tom Steyer, Warren Buffett, Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates, Bill gates Sr., AlGore, et., al., all have their billions so they don't care about anything or anyone other than protecting what they got - with complete disregard of the collateral damage to America.

The “journalists” who are now admitting they were wrong, not just wrong but stupidly so, no doubt expect that Americans will continue reading their stuff and giving them the credence they assume they still have. Like the others, she squandered all the goodwill with conservatives, and her credibility, by first attacking Sarah Palin then supporting Obama. Clearly she voted with the air in her head coupled with her withered lady parts.
