Life is a series of dogs...the transitions always hurt.
Solstice was lucky you were his owner. You know what? You have helped destroy an old myth. I always thought dogs could not eat chocolate foods. I was warned chocolate would ‘turn any dog or cat’s stomach upside down, the reaction might even be fatal!!.” But you tell me that your Pal enjoyed a little German Chocolate for a German Shepherd. I guess that was an old wives tale.
I’m so sorry for your loss.
RIP Solstice. He sounds like he was a wonderful friend.

Dagny, now five years...
1_Rain_Drop, Solstice is still with you, and will always be with you. You will play ball, again.
Our pets are extensions of ourselves, IMO. We have been blessed with some very wonderful companions over the years, and I look forward to seeing them all, again.
Take solace in the joys you shared.
So sorry to hear this sad news. I know you made Solstice as happy as he made you.
Bless you for being such a faithful friend. I completely sympathize.
Honor the memory of MIGHTY SOLSTICE; as soon as you are emotionally able (it took me five years after my ROLLY had to leave), go to your local pound and find another LIFE PARTNER to adopt.
Don’t waste five years like I did.
I am sorry for your loss.
Bless you for taking in a rescue dog. By your description of him I can tell he was very happy and you loved each other. I’m sorry for your loss.
Oh heavens, tears are streaming down my face, what you wrote is so beautiful and heartfelt.
You bring me back (it’s not hard to do) to my grief over the death of my cat Holly. I swear it’s the hardest loss I’ve ever had to bear and I know that sounds extremely silly, but we had her so briefly.
You have my deepest sympathy on your loss of your beloved Solstice.
Solstice is with my dear little Shelties.
.
I hope he’s romping with our kitties, Duke, Duchess, and Homer, as they wait for us at the Bridge.
I lost one of my furry children this last January. My wife brought her to the house when we got married. The pets ended up treating me better than the wife did. I still have the pets LOL. I know it hurts, but you’ll find your “new normal” eventually. From what I read you did just fine by your pet. Take care and God bless,
CC
My screen is all blurry now, but I wouldn’t have NOT read this for anything in the world...
Thanks for sharing your grief.

We are so sorry. Having lost 4 GSDs in the last 2 years, 3 through cancer and 1 stomach bloat, we understand your heartbreak. We will never be without one.
