Whether you are paid agents, losertarian isolationis, or just dim wits who wouldn't know what conservatism and freedom are if they kicked you in the backside. Why are still here? I love this country despite all its faults. It is the greatest nation that has ever been or ever will be. Despite my disgust with the politicians I would never side with the likes of the Red Russians. Never! And for those here hoping for Uncle Vlad to come and rescue them from the government by supplying assistance to a secessionist movement, you belong in prison for anybody who would accept the help of a commie tyrant is a traitor.
Our current government has done more to create the Putin of today than anyone.

You’re absolutely right. There seems to be some kind of Bromance going on between some people on FR and Putin. Maybe they like the pics of him shirtless. He’s a thug and a tyrant, and unworthy of anything but our contempt.
Actually, many here have backed Putin, time and again, beyond trying to see things from another perspective. They'll write lopsidedly, or include Kremlin 'spin' in their talking points, seeming without knowing that is what they are doing, and with little to no limiting qualification -- like including in their own discussion, things which may look Vladi and his gang look less than wonderful. So yes, they come across as Kremlin apologists.
As for his "ass" being commie, I dunno, it's likely to still be KGB at least --- but if it still is part commie (other than more simply statist-totalitarian) it likely gets along with the rest of the "natural monopoly" Russian crime business syndicate better than Dr. Strangelove's right hand got along with the Dr.

Few, probably none, of us view Putin as much more than an unreformed and very clever KGB apparatchik, and a really dangerous opponent. This is especially true because the team representing our “side” is incompetent at best and themselves more genuinely Communists than he is or probably ever was. But that does not mean that we aren’t going to look at the history and the geographic facts of the Russia / Ukraine situation and conclude it’s outside our ability to act effectively in a military sense. An emotional rant calling people you disagree with here “traitors” because they don’t want American blood spent in a hopeless cause isn’t going to persuade anyone that they’re wrong in that estimate.
That is a CIA talking point right there. They were not just protestors. They were given top positions in the new government. That was how the Russian language was made illegal.

The problem is the US is getting its but kicked everywhere right how. Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Egypt, Syria, Ukraine and we are sick and tired of it, while at the same time admiring the tactics of those that are kicking its but. That does not mean we like Putin. In fact I was probably one of the top 10 vocal opponents here when he invaded Georgia. But back then, the US was winning. The US was right. The US was Just. You cannot say that anymore. And that is the real problem. You have to assume the US is wrong in everyone of its positions from Global Warming to NSA spying to Using the IRS to Punish Political Opponents and on and on.
Look, fellow, I know when something is right or wrong by myself. I don’t need people telling me “he’s russian, KGB, communist, therefore, he’s wrong, always”. I already know the first part, thank you very much. It would be so easy if the second part were true. As easy as doing the opposite thing. Doesn’t work.
Putin is not our friend, but Obama is a greater danger to this country than Putin.
