[Video] Soldiers Target Practice With Air Rifle at His Home Results in School Lockdowns, Arrest at Gunpoint February 21 2014

A current active duty soldier and Iraq War veterans target practice with an air rifle landed him in hot water this week.
The soldier was shooting at a target he setup on the side of his home with an air rifle. One of the projectiles (likely a BB or pellet) struck the glass at an under construction home nearby. Its unclear if a ricochet was to blame or if it was a bad miss.
Unfortunately for the soldier, a Homeland Security agent who was a potential buyer of the home was inside it at the time. He called in an active shooter situation to local authorities. This resulted in two nearby schools being shutdown, a massive police response, including SWAT teams as well as an armored vehicle, and the soldier, 25-year-old Ramon Hooks, was taken into custody at gun point. He now faces charges of criminal mischief.

We’re on 5 acres and I’m more careful with my air rifle than he was.
Most neighbors have them for rabbit control.
but....its like mowing your lawn with scissors.....
LoL.
-—— As for SWAT, they were just doing what they always do, except that apparently no dogs were shot.
|||||||. Probably because none were around.
Or it’s not considered news anymore.
And still. What was the layout. Was it actually a ricochet.
Chickennnnnnnn Mannnnnnnnnnnnnnn! (He’s everywhere, he’s everywhere!)
I feel pity for the chickens. We should try not to scare them, it’s rude to do it. Still, we need some balance here. It gets old having to watch out for the chickens.

Not saying it didn't happen as written, just that I have trouble believing this scenario. But, I have no trouble believing the over the top overreaction.
Only a few years ago such an overreaction would have made the agent an absolute laughing stock. How quickly things can change. Beware, the beast rises as we sleep.
The DHS agent was an idiot.
A real terrorist would have been much more careful and would not have been seen.
A guy practicing with a pellet gun isn’t out for concealment; he just wants to plink.
Launching a SWAY response to a pellet gun just shows that the DHS employee needs to find a job with less authoritarian complications.
Been there. Done that. LOL
My 22 year old son will go months left handed, and then he will suddenly be right handed for a few months.
He can’t write worth a darn with either hand.
I would call in vandalism....NOT “active shooter”....
The two moons of the planet Mars (which was named for a mythical god of war) are Phobos (meaning fear) and Deimos (meaning panic).
We have a lot of fear and panic today. Most of us being Christian, we have the basis to know that this is from Satan. And God will let Satan do it until we flee back to His loving, everlasting arms.
“The man who triggered it all was Ramon Hooks.
Kinda crazy! It all blew up over an air rifle. It was real intense, the 25-year-old man said.
Hooks said he had been target practicing at the house next door to his home when his dog got out and he went to look for her. Hooks said he even bumped into the Homeland Security Agent who was house shopping in the neighborhood.
He was calm. I said, Had you seen my dog? He said. Yes, she ran around the back way, Hooks said.
Shortly afterward, the federal agent called for help, saying shots had just been fired into a house he was walking through. Deputies confronted Hooks and then retrieved the air rifle and pellets Hooks left on his front porch. They said theres no evidence the men spoke before that call for help.
Hooks, a US Army specialist who served in Iraq, said he wasnt aiming at the house where the federal agent had been. He said the target next to that house was an old one.
If I felt it ricocheted over here I wouldve said so, he said.
Hooks said he often uses the backyards between the two rows of unfinished houses for target practice with his air rifle, as do the neighborhood kids, and he said the folks who live in the area know these are not real weapons.”

It was transformed into a politically correct socialist police state.
And dome people act like we can put the Genii back in the bottle.
We are so screwed. I am very grateful I was born long ago and know so much freedom for so long. Our great grandchildren won’t know a scintilla of freedom that we enjoyed.
“...if someone punched whole in my window.”
Depends on whether the ‘whole’ was punched with a ‘hoe’, a ‘ho’, a bullet, a baseball, whatever.
I find it interesting that a Homeland Insecurity trough feeder saw fit to waste many thousands of dollars of taxpayer money so that his fellowe Jackbooted Statists could justify their snouts being kept in the Gubment Feeding Trough.
Homeowners, contractors and other Americans have managed to deal with broken window issues without upwards of a dozen carloads of the Armed & Dangerous, complete with SWAT team in a surplus MRAP armored truck.
Some in the office should give this metro-sexual a pink red ryder.
The morale of the story is don’t live by DHS agents.
He looked out and saw the soldier holding what he thought was a telescopically high-powered rifle so he called the sheriff.
Where do you see that listed as a fact?
In the "Obamanation" such as noted in the story is just a standard course of action...
