I'm not sure how to post this personal thread but here goes. Our daughter is in the ICU with pneumonia and the doctors say the next 24 hours are crucial to her recovery. She hasn't shown any improvement with the treatment she's received for the past three days. She went in the hospital the day after Christmas, spent her 40th birthday there on Friday and was moved to the ICU today.
So we are praying that the Good Lord will surround her with his blessings and protect her. Her just turned five year old son wasn't allowed to see her after she was moved to the ICU and he had been holding it all together pretty good until today. Please pray for her recovery, the doctors treating her, the nurses attending to her, and for her husband and her son. Her name is Rebecca and we want the Lord to be hearing her name from all corners of the country.
I ask for your prayers for myself also as I have the flu and will need my health back in order to help with our grandson and our daughter when she returns home as her recovery won't be easy.
Thank you.
Glad to read the encouraging news.
I did get a freepmail from the critical care doctor and I found it just a bit ago. I had taken advantage of the lull in the household to lie down. I hadn’t gotten to write to him yet. I did write back to him and of course, I forgot to ask him just what it is a critical care doctor does. He said he’s been on ICU duty for the past three days so I don’t imagine he’s in the mood for much of anything except REST!!! But his offer is so much appreciated and I hope I didn’t overwhelm him in my reply. He’s not obligated certainly to answer each concern of mine.
(((HUGS))) Don’t worry about that, TYR. Like all FReepers on this thread, gas_dr was very helpful and sincere in offering information and good wishes to you for your daughter’s recovery.
I’m sure he will respond to your freepmail after he sleeps and receives your message. Judging by his screen name, I believe he might be an anesthesiologist and critical care doctor.
Just jot down any intervening questions, in brief, and that will free your mind between the doctor’s visits. I’m glad you are finally getting some rest. God’s blessings on you and your family in the new year!
“”Judging by his screen name, I believe he might be an anesthesiologist and critical care doctor.””
You were absolutely right. I did hear from him and he made a choice between pulmonology and anesthesiology and he chose the latter for critical care specialty. Good pick up on that. Personally, I would have picked pulmonology as it’s easier to spell.
Saw our daughter last night and she was doing much better. Was sitting up in a chair and enjoying not being confined to the bed. Could be allowed to go home today or tomorrow depending! They certainly don’t want to release her before she’s ready.
They don’t appear to be big fans of obamacare on the floor. The word was spoken in a hushed voice as they walked by us. I knew there was going to be a penalty if hospitals released patients too soon and they had to be readmitted for the same illness but Rebecca said they told her it’s within 30 days and that I didn’t know or simply forgot. How utterly ridiculous. I spent months going over that stupid bill and I could spend the remainder of my life and still not know all the surprises in it. NOR could anyone in DC who voted for the gosh darned thing!
I’m thankful to all of you who offered prayers for Rebecca’s healing. There’s no doubt whatsoever that they were all heard. Can’t say enough for the great hospital staff either.
Our daughter just called and she is being released from the hospital to go home this afternoon. Very, very good news indeed.
Thank you all again for your prayers and concerns. It was a hairy time but we made it through with your help.
