Looking for some new mysteries to watch on Netflix or Amazon...preferably Brit, Swede, Danish or otherwise European(better actors)..but could be American if they are decent like Breaking Bad. I posted a request a while ago and many of you great Freeper friends responded with good suggestions. It turned out to be a fun thread.,,,a necessary distraction at this stressful time of year...from all things Obama, libs, Dems, progressives and dysfunctional families?
Danish: The Eagle, The Protectors.
Swedish: Annika Bengtzon Crime Reporter
Norwegian: Lillehammer
UK: New episodes of Foyle’s War, and Gently
It would be great if some people got together and started a streaming site of conservative shows. Start with stand-up comedians and move on to cheesy sit-coms...
Taggart, Murphy’s Law, Waking the Dead, Midsomer Murders, Dalziel & Pascoe, Single-Handed - some that me mum and I like.
A coworker recommended Orange is the New Black. Skip it. It is just a lesbo prison mini series.
Spanish film Intacto was quite good
Also Argentine film The Secret in Their Eyes
Both the new House of Cards (with Spacey) and the original British version of House of Cards were very good.
Thanx. I had a senior moment
Since you like the British mystery series, here are some of my favorites:
Jonathan Creek
Midsomer Murders
Inspector Alleyn Mysteries
Hetty Wainthropp Investigates
Campion
It’s not a mystery, but I enjoyed Monarch of the Glen a lot.
Tell No One (Ne dis à personne): Excellent. A thriller. Very well done.
The Lower Depths (Les Bas-Fonds): An old 1930's classic but interesting.
The Well Digger's Daughter (La Fille du puisatier): Not a thriller at all. A beautiful love story. But it's really beautiful, takes place in Provence and makes the most of the scenery, the culture, and some nice character development. An excellent movie. One of my favorites. Unless you've got a heart of stone, you'll love it.
the latter, afip.
Suspense, who dunnit.
thanks
I highly recommend it for Downton Abby fans since Julian Fellowes wrote and developed both series while also acting in Monarch of the Glen. I'd call it an entry-level drug for Brit series of all types.
House of Cards keeps talking about government involvement and I can’t take it.
Netflix:
Staying at the family's country estate with her pretty half-sister Laura (Justine Waddell), plain-Jane Marian (Tara Fitzgerald) is introduced to a society of artists and aristocrats, including the mysterious Count Fosco (Simon Callow). But even more mysterious is the ghostly apparition -- a Laura look-alike cloaked in white -- that roams the grounds at night. Tim Fywell directs this Victorian-era Masterpiece Theatre thriller based on Wilkie Collins's novel.
Cast:Tara Fitzgerald, Justine Waddell, Andrew Lincoln, Susan Vidler, John Standing, Adie Allen, Ian Richardson, James Wilby, Ann Bell, Anne Etchells, Simon Callow
Genre:Mystery, Suspense, Supernatural Thrillers, Thrillers
Have you seen sons of anarchy?
That would be cool. I’m a big fan of cheesy.
:)
lol
It would make an interesting Kickstarter campaign
The Vikings on the history channel. Has season 1
Season two starts in february
