Health Insurance Horror Stories over Obamacare Continue to Pour In

As the old adage says: when it rains, it pours. It seems that every day brings a new crop of horror stories over the incredibly rising costs of health insurance. The reason for the vast rise in price? Obamacare. With insurance companies forced to take on people with pre-existing conditions and basic insurance plans forced to carry more options (such as maternity leave and mental health care), prices are skyrocketing. More and more Americans are getting hit with sticker shock when they see the higher prices they're forced to pay.

One such case is a couple in Kentucky with two children. Andy and Amy Mangione paid a monthly premium of $333 for their health care plan, but now the price has risen to $965 per month. What makes matters worse is that their plan isn't a fancy Cadillac plan or even a silver level plan, but just a bare-bones plan for emergencies.

Even progressive liberals are becoming outraged. Tirge Caps, a left-wing diarist at the Daily Kos, wrote a blog railing against his increases. He notes that his premiums are going from $150 a month to $284 a month while his wife's is being raised from $168 to $302 a month. He writes, "We have a high deductible. We are generally healthy people who don't go to the doctor often. I barely ever go. The insurance is in case of a major catastrophe. Well, now, because of Obamacare, my wife's rate is gong to $302 per month and mine is jumping to $284. I am canceling insurance for us and I am not paying any fucking penalty. What the hell kind of reform is this? Oh, ok, if we qualify, we can get some government assistance. Great. So now I have to jump through another hoop to just chisel some of this off. And we don't qualify, anyway, so what's the point?"

Some more progressive liberals hit with higher premiums are Cindy Vinson and Tom Waschura from California. They are both big Obama supporters and were fans of the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare). Imagine their surprise when Vinson found out that her rates were going to cost her $1800 more per year and Waschura would have to fork out $10,000 more per year as he has a family of four. I love the following quotes by these liberals. Waschura says, "I was laughing at Boehner -- until the mail came today. I really don't like the Republican tactics, but at least now I can understand why they are so pissed about this. When you take $10,000 out of my family's pocket each year, that's otherwise disposable income or retirement savings that will not be going into our local economy."

Vinson, a retired school teacher, whines, "Of course, I want people to have health care, I just didn't realize I would be the one who was going to pay for it personally." Isn't this the essence of liberalism? They want free stuff for everybody but don't want to pick up the tab. If the money needed to pay the bills was being stolen from somebody else, they would be fine with it. However, now that its their pocket getting picked, it's outrageous! I know it's petty of me, but reading quotes like these from liberals just put a smile on my face. They cheered as Obama and his progressive cronies began to drag down America, and now they have to sit in the same muck that we do. I hope they like the taste of the bitter medicine they forced down the country's throat.

One quick example of what's waiting for us when Obamacare really gets going. In the UK, a National Health Service (their equivalent of Obamacare) director died after her operation was cancelled four times. Margaret Hutchon, a non-executive member of the Board of Directors for the Mid Essex Hospital Services NHS Trust and a former mayor, needed follow-up stomach surgery. However, her surgery was postponed four times for a period totaling nine months. This happened at the very same hospital that she was a director at! Socialized medicine doesn't lift up the masses; it just buries them.

The sad thing about the left like Tirge Caps is that they never liked the exchanges idea anyway because they believe in government single payer care for absolutely free.... Wheee!

I forget which American mainstream media ditz was over in London for the Olympics, and shut her finger in a door - she went to get “free NHS” care and was amazed, absolutely amazed when the British media folks over there were horrified - they insisted she go to a private doc and they paid for it. She didn’t understand, and was even more surprised to be told that anyone on the north side of 75K a year there buys their own, private care because the NHS is a total disaster.

“Free lunch! Come and get your free lunch!”

“Hey buddy! I’ll have some of that free lunch!”

“OK. That’ll be twenty bucks.”

“Wait a minute! I thought you said this was a free lunch. What’s the twenty bucks for?”

“Overhead.”

“What’s ‘Overhead’?”

“The IRS is gonna be overyourhead with a club if you don’t give me twenty bucks.”

“Ohhhhhh.......so it’s not really free, and if I don’t pay I get in trouble with the government?”

“Now you got it.”

“Well, here’s the twenty bucks. Where’s my food?”

“Eh....you don’t want to eat here. The food is terrible.”

“Don’t I get something for my money?”

“Sure! You get to vote for me in the next election. “

“That’s it? Don’t I get anything else?”

“Sure! You see that car?”

“You mean that Mercedes? I get that car?”

“No. You get to look at it. That’s my car. Imagine how happy I am using your money to get me stuff. Isn’t that better than a lunch?”

“Not really.”

“Get outta here you filthy Republican! Free lunch! Come and get your free lunch!”

Yes, many employers pay for BUPA insurance -

The US libs don't realize the amount of private insurance in the UK. You usually get to see the same doctors but much quicker

With insurance companies forced to take on people with pre-existing conditions and basic insurance plans forced to carry more options (such as maternity leave and mental health care), prices are skyrocketing.

Specially irrational is that all those features apply equally to teenagers and octogenerians.

Besides, by definition, any program that mandates covering pre-existing conditions is not insurance. It's welfare.

Well, I’m glad Obama didn’t delay Obamacare Implementation and the Individual Mandate until after the 2014 Elections, like the idiot Republicans wanted him to do.

We have a year to watch pissed off Liberals stew in it. Utopia, it isn’t just for idiot young people anymore.
Welcome to Logan’s Run Comrades.

My English aunt was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and was rushed in for an operation, six months later.

I know what you mean. It infuriates me that all of us have to pay for the stupidity of the Obama voters, but I’m happy they are finally going to feel the results of their stupidity along with the rest of us. Maybe, just maybe, they will finally take off their rose-colored glasses and see that thing they elected for what he is.

But of all the habits they possess, wouldn’t you say “admitting they were wrong” about something is decidedly absent? They never admit they were wrong. About anything. They just move on to another topic. Or blame George Bush or now Ted Cruz or the Tea Party. Now you and I know how absurd that is but we still have to wade through the rhetoric. Honestly I get no juice out of them suffering, as much as I detest them.
