That’s nice. Where is device manager hidden?
(I uninstalled all HP software and downloaded a fresh copy of the driver, it’s working now. God knows what else I screwed up...)
At least it is now working, just don’t frighten it with loud noises or anything sudden.
XP is usually okay.
Device manager is located in control panel.
First things first... you say it's working. Don't breathe on it... ;-) (Windoze senses when it is in the presence of a MacUser and intentionally with malice aforethought behaves altogether unlike an adult...)
For future reference should you need it, method 1) Start/my computer/View System Information (top left of screen)/hardware/device manager.
Method 2)Start/control panel/performance and maintenance/system/hardware/device manager...
I am assuming that you have the printer connected via usb.. If it's a network printer (all three of the laser printers here are on the network) there could be some other stuff going on (for instance, one of the printers would print fine via a usb connection but was very slow or non responsive via network. Turned out HP had a security setting turned on by default that I didn't know about that was blocking/'filtering' tcp/ip packets.. )
Only Darks has problems with XP... ;-) (Ask him how much he liked Vista - I avoided it like an obama..)
